Just arrived at Heathrow exactly 24 hours after leaving Tullamarine. Helen looking good as we transit to our hotel on Bayswater Rd near Hyde Park. Driver dropped us off at the wrong hotel, the Lancaster instead of the Lancaster Gate. Thought it looked salubrious. The Lancaster Gate was just a £3.80 ride away with a very nice cabbie. The correct Hotel has small fairly basic rooms but clean and really helpful staff. We settled in quickly and went to explore the local area. Really nice with a nearby cafe strip in Queensway. Restaurant staff are often European (due to the poor economy in the Mediterranean countries I think) so not a lot of English accents here! The waiter in our chosen Italian restaurant promised the world and delivered Mars. I am sure he only understood every second word because we got about half what we ordered! So off to bed eight hours later than our body clock wanted only to wake at 2.00 am and sleep fitfully through to morning.
