We were reluctant leavers of the Chateau St Martin even with the prospect of more spirited driving. This time we swapped to a new Boxster S also with PDK. This car is also a great advance over the previous model. It was hard to decide which was better the 911 or the Boxster. Options won the day. The Boxster lacked the switchable exhaust of the 911 and the noise of that 911 as it thundered at mid range screamed to the redline and popped and farted on overrun was intoxicating. When you have had enough of that simply switch and almost limousine like quiet prevails. Road noise on both cars seemed impressively lower than prior models which should be a great plus on coarse chip Aussie roads.
We traversed more narrow winding roads perhaps this being our most satisfying drive as we were the first car behind the guide and our two cars traversed that territory at great pace having to wait for the rest to catch up. We stopped at the Gourdon said to be the most beautiful village in France. Here the assembled Porsche officiandos declared a GT 2 parked in the village to be a fake. If only the owner knew he had been busted by experts.
After lunch at The beautiful Castellaras Restaurant in Fayance (beautiful property, food and view) we continued unabated to our overnight stop at Chateau de Berne in Lorgues.
