We have all arrived in Huaraz, Peru. Another member has been added to our posse, Scotts common travel partner and roomate from college Matt aka Schmidty. He just finished studying espanol in Buenos Aires for 6 weeks. To say that we are all excited to be in the mountains is an understatement. This area is absolutely breathtaking, described as glaciated peaks razoring there way through expansive mantles of jade valleys, and in the recesses of these prodigious Andean giants huddle scores of pristine lakes, ice caves and torrid springs. This is the highest mountain range in the world ouside of the Himalayas. This is constantly reminded by the 22 peaks raising up over 6000m. We are spending the New Year in town and then heading up on a 10-14 day excursion through this pristine area of the Cordilleras Blanca. I´m sure we´ll find ourselves right at home.
