June 22nd, 2015:
I better make this blog quick! My dad is literally snoring SO LOUD I can hardly hear myself think... And knowing him, we're going to be up early tomorrow, too!
TODAY, we woke up in our gross motel room and packed up right away and got the hell outta there!!! We drove around until we found an iHop and had some delicious breakfast. We found a parking lot downtown close to Gas Town where we could see all the cruise ships... It really made me want to go on a cruise!! (Tevin, hint hint!!!!) We walked ALL DAY through Gas Town, China Town, and to I-Don't-Even-Know-Where. Like I said in my Facebook post, we saw tons of the same old souvenir shops... They all sell the same things as the stores in Banff. Moose, Bear, Elk, and Canada souvenirs beyond belief. I took lots of pictures of the moose since Tevin gave me the unfortunate nickname of, "Moosey." We walked and walked and walked until my feet had blisters. We saw endless amounts of homeless people, some doing artwork, some sleeping, some who had peed themselves... It's all very sad to me. I wish I could help them all.. But like my dad says, "You can't save the world."
We passed a place called Momo Sushi, and it had this stupid little sumo wrestler bobble head. My mom was obsessed with it. She was determined to find one in one of the souvenir stores to put on her dashboard. But literally NONE OF THE STORES HAD ONE. You see, this is how I know that all of the stores have the same s*** in them. Because we went into every single store looking for that damn sumo wrestler! *SIGH* We sat down for lunch at this weird restaurant, and didn't even end up eating there. We only had drinks. We didn't realize the menu was so... um... different. I posted pictures of the menu on Facebook so you could all read for yourselves what they were serving. OH BY THE WAY! It seems like it's a normal thing to serve chicken and waffles together??? Is that a thing here? I've seen it twice. Chicken tenders and waffles for breakfast at iHop... It was weird.
At this point, my mom and I were watching that homeless man I mentioned earlier... or those of you who haven't seen my Facebook post about it, he was old and humble and he was just standing there asking people for a dime. And earlier, my mom had dropped a dime and left it there, so we both felt really bad that this poor man was only asking for a dime... As we walked past him, I handed him a $5 bill. He was soooo thankful. Surprised, but thankful. He quickly ran off to the nearby store, hopefully to buy some food and not smokes or something.
So then we continued down the street and found the Old Spaghetti Factory! (YAY) We ate the yummiest pasta ever. We walked back to the car, and headed towards Stanley Park. That's next on our list, either for tonight or tomorrow, so we thought we'd get a hotel room near by. AGAIN, NO VACANCIES! ANYWHERE! I called over 30 hotels and they are all fully booked up! Finally I called a Super 8 all the way down in a residential area of Vancouver that had a couple rooms left. So we drove all the way down to the SE and well, not we're here! We walked up to a near by restaurant where my parents (somehow) ate MORE food. I wasn't hungry after all that pasta, so I just nibbled on my mom's Caesar salad and some ribs... I feel quite gross now actually, thinking about all the food we've eaten so far. Deep fried fish, french fries, onion rings, ice cream, lasagna, brownies, I'm probably going to weigh 100 lbs more than I did leaving Calgary! Oh well, I'll be back at the gym on Monday...........................
Okay so now my Dad is REALLY snoring loud so I'm going to go and (TRY) to get some sleep!!!
Goodnight!!! :)
