Hooray! Our trip is finally here! I don't think it has sunken in yet that we're ACTUALLY going to the Dominican Republic. For those of you who don't know who "we" are, it's me, Tevin, his sister Cayly, our friend Jesse, and Tevin's two cousins, Janie and Christian. (Janie and Christian are siblings.) We only planned this trip a couple months ago, but it seriously flew by so fast! I'm pretty excited. This will be my first ever trip without my parents! Well, minus my trip to Japan, but my uncle was with me so that doesn't count! I'm talking about a trip with completely no parents! (I was about to say, "no adults," until I realized that I'M an adult... Woah...) Kinda scary, huh? Not to worry, though. We've got a pretty diverse group so everything should be fine. Three smart girls, three big strong guys that all look like body guards, what could go wrong? Plus Cayly is super organized and ready for anything so I feel pretty safe travelling with this group.
Speaking of Tevin, this will be our first trip together... EVER! Of course, we went on choir trips together when we were in High School, but never out of the country. We've been to Banff, Fairmont, and a couple other places, but this is by far the biggest trip we've taken together! In fact, this is the biggest trip I'll have taken with any boyfriend! It will be interesting. Some people say that it will help us learn if we can deal with each other under stress and in real life situations... Others say it won't really tell us much since this is a relaxing vacation, not a stressful, backpacking, travelling experience. But oh well! I think it will be good for us! I mean, we'll be spending 15 days together 24/7!!!! That's a pretty long time! And if we make it out alive I think we'll have done pretty good! (Just kidding, we get along quite perfectly.)
Seriously, just look at the picture. We've done nothing but laugh this entire plane ride!
Christian and Janie are way up at the front of the plane, and Cayly and Jesse are sitting literally at the very back of the plane. Tevin and I were lucky enough to snipe the emergency exit seats.. Tevin really needs the extra leg room and I just kind of tagged along.
Well, we're just about to land in Toronto... (We have a night time layover there before we head to Puerto Plata.) Maybe I'll see some family members while I'm there!
Anyway, hopefully I can get to my blog at least a few times during our trip! We're planning on trying out this excursion where you can slide down waterfalls and stuff. I also want to try scuba diving with Tevin as he's never actually done that before. We'll see what else is there, but those are the top two things on my to do list!
Tevin helped me buy a brand new Go Pro for this vacation, (it was my birthday present from him) so I'll be able to take REALLY awesome photos/videos of both of those excursions if we go!
Aaahhh! Just typing about it is getting me really antsy!! I can't wait to get to the beach and swim in the OCEAN!!!!
