We arrived in Halifax this morning to sunny skies and 19 degrees. Very busy harbour. We have decided to take a limousine tour out to Peggy’s cove for the afternoon.

Very rugged granite shoreline all along the coast of Maine.

The rose hips that grow here are the largest I have ever seen. They are the size of a quarter or larger. Blueberries grow here in great abundance as well.

The homeowners have contributed funds to build a walking trail along the shoreline and past the many homes located on the ocean front in town. There are very few sandy beaches along the Maine shoreline as it is very rocky.

As in the other ports Bar Harbor was popular as a summer get away for the wealthy in the early years. This was a single family cottage and over the recent years has been turned into guest accommodations for the tourists visiting in the summer months. Population in Bar Harbor is around 6,500 permanent residents but triples in the summer.
