This morning was a bit of a struggle, I think I may have heard Ralf leave the flat just before 6AM when it crossed my mind that I might try and slip straight into a normal routine by getting up and going for a walk/jog. It took all of about 45 seconds of my body having a seriously good laugh at my brain for me to slip straight back into a blissful and solid sleep.
Waking with a bit of a start at 11:30AM I realised I'd missed the window for early morning exercise, in fact in thirty minutes time I would have missed the entire window of morning all together. So once I had resound myself to the fact that I'd missed my first opportunity for breakfast in Germany I got myself ready for a day of raoming the streets and decided to walk to the Viktualienmarkt for a proper lunch the way the locals do it. I immensely enjoyed watching a young woman all dressed up in office attire, who was about as petit and gorgeous as my sister Gemma, standing at a table in the deli, where I had my first white sausage with mustard, completly devoure a giant pork knuckle for lunch - greasy fingerlicking goodness, it was absolute gold.
As I walk the streets on this cold and drizzly winters day I notice pretty quickly that I am in no way 'cool' enough to fit into this city and I gave myself a quick pat on the back for having purchased some decent quality and not entirely bad looking travel clothes before I left home. Thankfully I'm not inflicting the bogan Australian slob style on these incredibly classy and model like locals. Seriously, I'm not joking, I've not yet passed one person that wouldn't easily grace the cover of Vouge wearing their every day street atire... well maybe I have, but they were definitely tourists like me.
Another thing that immediately strikes me about Munich is the cleanliness of the streets and the complete lack of crazies on every corner. No joke, I'm in the middle of a city and it's quiet and civilised, no one walks around with their face buried into their phone (unless you're a directionally challenged Australian tourist who would like to kiss the feet of the inventer of Google maps if they were in front of her right now) and even the everyday street sounds are peaceful and harmonious. Not even the little green and red crossing men make abnoxious noises while you stroll, the layout of the streets, bike paths and pedestrian walks all make sense and don't have to be over signed. I feel perfectly content here and now that I've slept and feel like a human again I am really enjoying getting to know all the sights, sounds and delights that the beautiful Munich has to offer.
On my way back to the apartment my phone battery ran out from too much map use and snapchat so, armed with only a small tourist map and my 'brilliant' sense of direction I somehow navigated my way correctly home and you have no idea how good that felt, go me! I did stop for a moment or three at a giant sports ware/gear shop on my way home and bought a great pair of ski gloves - due to the crappy weather predicted for Saturday (and Ralf's correct assumption that I might not be quite ready for an overnight snow mountain hike just yet) we have decided to just do a day trip to the snow on Sunday. I hope like hell that my limited skiing abilities will get me through the day, I've already told Ralf that he's more than welcome to leave me at the kids class while he goes and has some fun, hahaha - not actually joking.
Tonight we're heading to a Cologne themed dinner party to celebrate an impending trip to Cologne that Ralf and his friends are taking in March for a festival there. I'm really excited to meet some of his friends however that, my dear friends (and randoms who may have stumbled upon my blog online), is where I leave you completely up to date... for now!

Bel I hope Ralf is going to take you to visit Neuschwanstein Castle - the Disney castle in the Black Forest just outside of Munich. It's the inspiration for the Disney castle logo xx
Steve Jones Glad you like the city!
