Toronto has been really amazing.
This has definitely been my favourite place so far, it has so much to do and see here and I've been busy every day and stayed an extra night then I intended too because of it. I booked a special with the hostel which meant I got a trip to Niagara Falls one day and I also got a ticket up to the CN tower and also a bus ticket which lets me do the bus tour and the boat tour around TorontoIslands.
I arrived on Sunday late afternoon and went out pretty much straight away and went to the entertainment district so I could find out what was happening in local theatre and also went to see where the SecondCity theatre was because I booked to see the show on Monday night. I ended up booking an extra ticket for that night's show which was really good.
My second day I ended up going to the CN tower which was good, I stood on the glass floor and took a lot of pictures I also made use of my bus ticket and took a ride down to the harbour where we got the free boat ride around the islands. It was Victoria day here so there was a circus going on down by the harbour and food tents and other activities to celebrate so I got to watch some of the show before the boat ride. The boat was really nice it has been really sunny since getting here so it helped, there was a little girl on the boat who ended up playing with my puppets for most of the ride and I got some photos of Toronto from the water which came out nice.
I took the bus around some more and ended up in the shopping district where I had some food and looked around some more, I walked back from there and got to the hostel where I got talking to a lady Sandy who is in my room she lives in Calgary and has offered me a room when I go there which is really good of her and will save me a few pennies. So I asked if she wanted to join me for the SecondCity show and she agreed. I went downstairs for some food and got talking to a guy called Ryan who is in the Australian Army and he was doing the Niagara Falls trip the next day with me and then there was a small tour of the Hostel happening and around the corner came one of the girls I came over and worked with from Oyster. It was really strange she had just arrived back from England so I got to talk to her for a little bit and offered to see she wanted to see Second City but she was tired from her flight So I went out with my roommate Sandy and watched the show I ended up getting one of their t-shirts as well which was a nice souvenir for me, the show was even funnier than the previous nights which was great, they had a really good cast and worked really well together.
The next day I went to Niagara Falls and went on the Maid of the Mist it was a really hot day so the water was welcomed, I got lots of photos and some film before it got too wet to have my cameras out. After that our tour went to show us the top of Niagara and also a Whirlpool that was down the road. We then stopped at a little town and got some ice cream and then went to a winery which was good. It was a long day trip but worth it. When we got back we went to the Cinema with Emma to see Shrek 3 and then went to an Irish pub after for a drink.
The next day I went to the HockeyMuseum with Ryan in the morning which was pretty interesting, it had a lot of trophies and various items from different players which they had accredited into their hall of fame. I then went to see the prices of greyhound and train and they both ended up being around £250-£350 and took 3 days each to get there so instead I went back to the hostel and booked a flight out instead which was £300 and only takes 4 hours to fly so not bad. After I got my tickets booked I went to the local market for an hour or so which was nice and picked up some food for my flight. After that I went back to hostel to meet up with Emma before we went to see Jersey Boys.
Jersey Boys was really good, I wasn't sure what to expect but it was well written and performed, the different cast members act like narrators throughout the film telling the story of Franki and the Four Seasons. They were all really good singers and actors and the show was fun so it was worth the money to see it. We got back after that and met with Ryan and got a pizza and that what about it for Toronto, it was really good and I could have easily spent another few days there and happily seen some more of the musicals they have showing.
