So I'm back again with another blog to keep you people entertained for 10 minutes.....
....It didnt take long to pass out in bed for our first night in Cairns - after all we had had a pretty hectic crazy few days having been in 3 places in the space of about 48 hours! The morning after our arrival in Cairns it was up at 6.45 to get ready for our 2 day adventure trip to Cape Tribulation. For those that don't know (which included myself before this trip) Cape Tribulation is the only point in the world where two world heritage sites meet each other - the rainforest and the reef and what an out of this world place it is!! We took a quick stop on route in Port Douglas - not much here apart from a handy supermarket and a much needed toilet. I got the impression that this place was very much for those in the money - not for us smelly, cheap backpackers!!! Next stop was Mossman Gorge which is part of the beautiful Daintree Rainforest. Here we did a little tour through the forest and ended up at an amazing little swimming hole where everybody stripped to there bikinis and shorts and had a little dip - oh my god it was cold but the scenary around you definately made up for it. You couldnt ask for more tranquil and gorgeous surroundings. A few photos here and then it was off to do some Steve Irwin impressions and fight with the crocs - ok not quite but we did a little tour on a river whilst croc spotting which was good fun. We even saw a 9 year old croc and a few little baby ones. They were so cute but boy, I wasnt going anywhere near them!!
Next stop, and usually always my favourite stop, was lunch in a place called Cow Bay - A small place that consisted of a hotel/bar/hang out for the locals - I wouldnt like to be left here - me thinks they looked like inbreeds!!! hahahaha!! After lunch true its name the rainforest opened up and down came the rain in its gallons!!! After telling our driver we didnt want to stop and get out anywhere extra he took us to our last stop of the day which was Cape Tribulation beach - didnt look its best in the rain but I can imagine how amazing it looks in the sun....
....the day soon came to an end and we headed for our overnight retreat otherwise known as PJs Jungle Village - Im not sure how best to describe this place but maybe basic and in the middle of the rainforest!! After spending about 30 minutes there we began to regret booking the overnight trip - it really was like living in the forest. If I was a celebrity I would have definately shouted - GET ME OUTTA HERE!!!!! Dinner was funny - we didnt have any of our own plates with us and not much food so I found myself eating beans on toast and charli had instant mash - welcome to the life of us travellers!!!....
.....after a jug of beer and a chit chat to my fellower jungle buddies I decided to get to bed ready for my next early start....yes bright and early Tasha was up and out of bed ready to play tarzan in the jungle!! I had booked myself on the Jungle Surfing trip which basically consisted of being strapped to ropes above the forest and swinging down on cables - its hard to explain here but the photos will show all...it was so much fun and the sun even decided to come out!! and ooo oooo I was like a celeb in the jungle and liked a green ants bum - I swear I could do those bushttucker trials! Truth is I didnt just decided to lick its bum, infact if you lick the green part of this certain ant then it shoots somre pure vitamin C into your mouth - it was tangy to say the least!
The rest of my afternoon was spent lazing around the jungle village and chit chatting yet again with people here there and everywhere. Its strange as at first I found it all quite boring being so far out and having nothing to do but looking at tress and listening to the surrounding noises coming from all the insects it makes you realise how lucky you are. Its the kind of thing you wish for while sat at home in England - if only I was a million miles away with nothing to do yet when your there you want to be somewhere else - its crazy! But alas I did enjoy it and appreciated every moment of being in such extrodinary, unique surroundings......
We are now back in Cairns for a few days and enjoying some relaxing time without early mornings and without partying too much. Its not really the type of place to party here plus its so hot and stuffy that it makes you feel so lazy! Lazy times people!!
Ok so there you have my last few days of adventure and Im trying to think of what else I can update you on....I have fallen in love with biscuits called Tim Tams - we are both obsessed with them and currently trying to work our way through the whole selection you can buy. The Tim Tam cornettos are to die for!! My tan is coming along nicely and my hair is turning slightly blonde on the tips with lighter brown underneath - odd as before I left I swear it was dark brown!! Myself and Charli are off to the MTV Video Music Awards in Sydney at the end of April which is very exciting as Ms P!NK is singing her new song for the first time - so excited, but still need to work out an outfit for the big event :op
I hope everyone is well and good back home...you do realise that I have so much more to say but its impossible to type it here so you will all have to listen to me babble on when im back home - you poor poor souls!! Anyway time is running short and Tim Tams are calling me......
Lots of love xxxxxxxx
