Well it really was a perfect Sunday yesterday.....For the first time in 3 weeks it was actually Charli that got up first and raced out to the sun...Dont fear I followed very shortly with my bowl of cornflakes while racing to a sunbed looking like a German on Ecstacy!! haha! (I apologise to all the Germans that might be reading this - I wonder if there is any!!?)
The previous day had been a bit of a disaster - we attempted to go Sky Diving for the second time (sorry mum, I didnt want to worry you so I was going to leave it until I had done it!) The first time we attempt it got called off before we had even left the hostel due to bad weather conditions on the beach...but this time we got all the way to Mission Beach, all kitted up, all prepared, started recording the DVD, on the plane and even on the runaway before it was called off - I was not impressed! I had been so hyped about it and the adrenaline was at full flow as I prepared to fling myself out of the sky at 14,000ft for a 70 second freefall experience........so that was a complete waste of my day..I think the only highlight came when I was picked up from town at 5.30 and got to spray a watergun out the window at passersby - yes Tasha is infact 5, not 25 That night consisted of a lovely dinner of beans on toast, followed by half a pint of Tooheys and a session in the open air lounge - leather sofa, tv and the outdoors all around - paradise (when it wasnt raining!!!)
So Sunday started early like I said and it turned out to be a perfect end to my week in Cairns....We sun bathed for a good few hours and I spent time being thrown in the pool several times by the resident loon (Paul) He found it highly amusing to see how many times he could throw me in even though most of the time I just jumped to get hime away - bless him, he cant help being simple Charli had booked herself in for another sky dive so left me about 2ish. I then decided to tuck into my lovely salt and vinegar sandwich - oh the of the traveller! After this it was time to pop into town and do a few last things. Instead of catching the bus I decided to walk with Paul to the lagoon and it was an absolutely fantastic walk - almost like the perfect walk for a lazy Sunday afternoon. We strolled all the way up the Esplanade, as they call it, passing the crabs on the beach, the palm trees, the passing boats..the list could go on. It was gorgeous!!
I got back to the hostel about 6ish after experiencing my last mad rush for the bus at 5.30. Charli's sky dive had been cancelled again - Im so glad I didnt waste my energy again getting hyped up! We had heard from Kat & Dani who were 2 room mates from Surfers Paradise so it was time to get dressed up and head into town after my lovely pasta dinner (I am so bored of Pasta now its unreal!!) What a fun night we had!! It was great to catch up with the girls and have a few drinks. We ended up in a bar called the Woolshed - at first Charli and I walked in with our mouths open and very scared - its was packed to the brim with people dancing everywhere including the tables - however the shock soon went and within about 15 minutes we were up on those tables along with Kat and Dani in true Coyote Ugly style (Without the H2O of course ) It was back to base at around 1.30am where we both just crashed out!!
So there you have it, a perfect end to being in this tropical paradise. Again I wasnt too fond when I arrived. I think its the culture shocks when you first arrive in new places..but again within a few days I was in love and not wanting to leave...today we are off to Perth which I cannot wait for, apparently the surf is amazing there so might just get time to catch a few more surf lessons before moving on....
I hope you are all well back at home and miss you all!! Lots of love xxxx
P.S Just to make you laugh...I have succesfully not packed enough contact lenses, I stood on my sunglasses so cant see a thing in the sun and yesterday whilst being chucked in the pool my actual glasses managed to get scratched so I have a constant line across me eyes - Who needs beer goggles when you actually cant see anyway - hahahahah!!!
