Koh samui
Bye bye Bangkok! Time to party on Koh Samui, meeting Seran there too, which is awesome.
Made ourselves comfortable on the Sleeper train. It was like a little sleepover on harry potters hogwarts express. Pull down beds...loved it. It was an experience to say the least! Liz made a little friend some foreign kid thought she was his mum I think...he just ran up to her and starting grabbing and hugging her leg! Hilarious!
Lena the alarm clock woke us all again to make sure we got off in time but we were Running a little late... Well an hour or so... There were no tannoy messages or anything which was slightly worrying. The sun was out though so that was a good sign :).
Bit of a mission to Koh Samui, after sleeper train we had to get a bus and then a boat then a minibus which was another 3 hours onto our journey. Felt GROSS!! 18 hours in total... But we got there in the end. Checked into Nora lakeview hotel...one of our rooms(Liz and lenas) was upgraded instantly as we had to wait half an hour for one to be cleaned.. Not too shabby! They havnt had much luck with rooms though, dodgy air con and the loudest room!
Seran had arrived earlier that day, so was awesome to see her. Decided to catch up with her about her trips around Thailand whilst having a meal on the seafront. GORGEOUS beach!! A Blue Sea, and the sun shining, what more can you ask for? Way more relaxed than Bangkok.
The sea is sooo warm it's like a bath, could sit in it for hours. Stayed on the beach most of the day, needed to just chill after all that travelling hoisting a mahusive Bag around with me...(which is definitely about to break even more!). Not good news for me!!
The hotel is pretty awesome... Best thing about it... The shower! First time I've felt clean in days! The showers in Bangkok just dribbled out water, so it felt great to feel fresh again!
Had to try some fish on the island, as apparently it's amazing.., which it was... I had salmon but was adventurous and tried some crab and red snapper. Very glad I did, both were very yummy!
Thai boxing was next on the itinerary for our first night on Samui. Not really sure of the rules but ah well, experienced something new. There were 6 different fights and 4 knockouts, the last fight was Poland vs Thailand, polish guy knocked him out with 2 punches. Round over after 5 seconds ... picked a pretty good day to go and see some Thai Boxing I think. Thoroughly enjoyed it..between each round we were loving the tunes, bit of black eyed peas and the obvious- rocky...found it pretty strange that they played barbie girl though! Haha.
Had a lovely walk across the beach, over to one of the main beach bars, was still absolutely boiling out. We only had one drink then went to dreamland. We weren't very adventurous our first night there. We decided to be losers for the night.
Started the day early with some breakfast and a trip to the travel shop. Did our first bit of bartering there, me and Len got a trip to elephant ride and see a waterfall down from 700bart each to 550. BARGAIN!! Another boiling day, all sun creamed up ready for some elephant riding! It was awesome. Got to ride on the elephants head and feed him bananas as well which was cool. Goon was a bit scared to do it at first but she came round and was glad she did it. We had a baby elephant...an extrememly greedy one. Always putting his trunk up for a banana, all went within 10 minutes, maybe less...Greedy b*****!! After the 30 minute trek around the jungle we had such a long walk to the top of the waterfall, even more difficult in the heat, especially when me and Liz decided to run(Which lasted all of 10 seconds). No idea why we decided to do that but we got our excersise done for the day haha. Well worth the hike, was beautiful up there.
Got back went to the swimming pool to chill for a bit...lots of chit chat going down. Books, films, relationships, deaths...even Madeline Mcann's disappearance. No idea how these topics merged in to one conversation. Goon even came up with an idea of starting a book club and she would be the head of it and charge 50p per person who came...not sure how many, If any, would turn up haha. All that going on while Liz and Len had their daily nap.
Had some grub and did some shopping. Goon wanted some abercrombie tops. Went to buy and didn't have enough cash so before going to the cash point she offered the lady a deposit until she came back with the rest. The lady just laughed, and said shell just wait until she returns.
Second night was party night for us. Bought some extremely cheap vodka in the shop about £4. Was cheap for a reason the top wouldn't come off. I found a knife and managed to cut myself, as did goon. Seran then just cork screwed the bottle and the drinks started to flow. We played a new drinking game Seran learned in Thailand. Takes a while to get into but basically the person at the end of the pack gets totally smashed. Somehow it happened to be goon. Haha. Night approached yet again and was time to hit the strip.
Was such a good night, we danced the night away until 4am when we hit the beds! The girls sneakaly got me up to sing... Was sooo embarrassing, but did it and got to sing with a pretty cool band. Was fun! Boat to Koh Panghan today for three days. Definately looking forward to the half moon party! It's going to be a night to remember!
Looking forward to the next 3 days!
