It's done! I am in Santiago de Compostela. I have crossed a whole country walking! It is so unreal! I just started and now it's done! Wow! So I started on the 18th of may and walked into Santiago exactly one month later.
The walk into Santiago was really magical. Different. I wanted to do two days of a bit more than 20 km and on the way I bumped into Kyle and Leo and we walked together for some time. Somehow we missed the last albergue before Santiago. We just walked past it. So we had the choice between walking back 2 km or carry on for 14 km and go directly to Santiago. That's what we did. So on my last day I walked over 40 km and walked into Santiago for sunset with very special people. Perfect!
Today we went to get our Compostela and sat down to celebrate the end of our pilgrimage with red wine in a bar directly on the camino and all the pilgrims walked by and joined us. All the people that were important to me on the way and some I thought I would never see again at all passed that bar. It Could not have been better.
I want to thank my camino buddies for making this experience so unique and memorable.
Thanks to Leo for reminding me of coming back to here and now whenever I would drift to the past or whenever I would start making plans for the future. I will always think of you when I remind myself of being in the present.
Thanks to Romain for going your own way more than anybody else. You might might not know, but it really inspired me that you didn't care where you would sleep at night or who you would end up walking with.
Thanks to Beth and Stacy for the singing, the laughing, the listening and talking. Thanks also for encouraging me in everything.
Thanks to Fabio for reminding me to
never stop searching! I am sure we will find it one day!
Thanks to Alex for being my camino sister. I learned so much about myself!
And Kyle, thank you for teaching me about unconditional love and about the judgement and the should have, could have, would have!
I love you all guys and you are all very special to me. Buen camino for the rest of your walk through life! Let me know when you are in Germany or anywhere close. We could go for a walk together ...hahaha...just kidding. You know that my door (as soon as I will have one ;)) is always open for you!
It is so hard to describe the experience I had with all these people and on my own on this camino. words and especially english for me is not enough to do so. so I guess I will talk a lot the next weeks! Be aware people ! ;)
Going back to Germany tomorrow. I am ready for it. It feels perfectly right. I am not sad to leave Spain behind. There are so many things I want to do and so many people I want to see! The future is going to be exciting!!! Can't wait to start living it.
