We arrived in San Francisco after an 11-hour flight. We flew over San Francisco bay I saw the Golden Gate Bridge out of the window. We picked up our rental car it was a massive seven seater Chrysler. We headed off trying to find the house Will and Lea had very kindly let us use, in the town of Los Gatos, an hour south of San Francisco. We found it finally the roads were amazing some had seven lanes going each way. The next day we got up really late because we were so tired we spent the next day doing not much but we did go for a drive around the place to nowhere in particular and we bought some running shoes which are so cheap in America. We were off early the next morning to San Francisco We drove in and then took a train to the centre of town. Were we got off there were lots of really high buildings but we soon found ourselves in China town that’s were everything is to do with China there were Chinese shops Chinese decorations and most of the people were Chinese so it felt like we were in China. We carried on towards the water front and fisherman's wharf. There were lots of people We stopped to see the sea lions at Pier39 they go there every day and flock onto the wooden rafts there were hundreds of them. In the afternoon we went on one of the historic trams and then headed back. After a few more days in Los Gatos we headed off We drove over the Golden Gate Bridge but sadly it was foggy so we could hardly see the bridge we carried on to the Muir wood which is home to coastal Redwoods the tallest trees in the world we explored it in the rain though and it was cold but they were very amazing. We carried on through the Napa Valley were they grow lots of wine to Lodi were we stayed the night. We carried on the next day to The Yosemite national park on the way we went to Gold Country we stopped in angels camp were Mark Twain wrote a book about frogs so now every year they have a frog jumping competition. We arrived late at Yosemite but managed to walk up to the Bridelveil falls which was very cool. The next day we drove up the massive Tioga pass road We drove up to 3000m and then we hiked up a track it went up through trees and snow and frozen lakes it was quite tiring at such high altitude at the top we saw Mono Lake and had lunch then we walked back down we drove back to the hotel and had a spa. The next day we did some walks in the valley first we climbed up to a water fall which was a very steep track and then we carried on to mirror lake it is right under half dome which is a massive half dome shaped rock then we walked all the way back to the visitors centre on the way we saw lots of squirrels but Yosemite also has bears, mountain lions, wolfs and lots of other animals. In the afternoon Dad walked to Yosemite falls and the rest of us learnt about the native Americans at the museum. Now it was time to head back into the coast so that is what we did I got to navigate yay. We drove down the famous coast from Monterey the coast was very ruff and rugged and really nice it was quite spectacular we saw some Elephant Seals on the rock and stayed the night in San Simeon in a really cheap hotel and the next day we went to see Hearst castle but we didn’t end up going in the next day we went to Oceano to do some washing we spent the night there. Soon we will be heading inland.
