I reckon the bus from Warsaw to Vilnius took the scenic route via Belarus as it took a fair while longer than planned. Can't complain though, it gave me the chance to charge the contraptions and recover from Warsaw. Trecked through a pretty serious storm to my hostel where everyone was winding down from a heavy weekend. I was only there for Sunday and Monday, the only two days clubs are closed and bars shut earlyish. Probably what I needed after Poland though...
I went out that night to a sports bar I'd passed on my way to the hostel and checked out Lithuania's answer to Match of the Day, meeting a few passionate locals. Went back to the hostel after a couple where all the bar staff were doing shots before bed - I didn't partake.
Following day I went to tick off the main thing I wanted to see in Vilnius, the KGB museum. Unfortunately it's closed on Mondays (luckily there's one in Tallinn though!) so I rocked over to the Old Town and followed a crowd of tourists over to the Gediminas Tower where you get the best view of the town and Hill of Crosses. That night I met this Finnish guy in the hostel who wanted to give the sports bar a go so headed there again and met a couple of guys from the Wirral who disappointingly hadn't heard of Miles Kane. They'd come from their mates wedding in Riga where they had to crack out a half an hour dance routine, requested by the bride. They were celebrating the fact it was over so were getting a fair amount of the local vodka in. That turned a bit bland so I floated around and met some of the bar staff who'd been working from 10am til 2am without much break. That was heavily fuelled with the same local vodka... Next morning I woke at 8 to catch my bus to Riga!
