We got up early and enjoyed a great complimentary breakfast at the hotel. The sun was attempting to shine and though it was a little breezy, the wind was warm and comfortable.
We set out on a self-guided tour of the Old Quarter, enjoying the Tran Family's Chapel, the Japanese Covered Bridge, the Museum of Trade Ceramics, Quan Cong's Temple, the Central Market, and the Hoi An Handicraft Workshop.
Along the way, we stopped in at Phuong Hoang's Cloth Shop. We pointed at some articles we liked, chose colors, and got measured. By 2:00 pm, our clothes were ready for a final fitting and, by 3:00 pm, they were embroidered and ready for us to pick up. Margaret got a shirt; Tessa, some orange wraparound pants; and Connor, a dashing Vietnamese jacket. Tessa wore her pants around town and got many approving glances. The three pieces cost $25.00 Canadian total! It was a fun experience, and we were very happy with the results.
Margaret was feeling tired because she was coming down with a cold. She can't complain much because this is her first time getting truly sick, so no one felt very sorry for her. However, we decided to call it a day and head back to the hotel. Again, the kids checked E-mail and looked after some school issues while Margaret and Barry worked on the blog.
That night, we went out to eat some Hoi An specialties and all enjoyed our meals. Vietnam is definitely an easy place to find good eats!
