Started today by visiting the Broken Earth Cafe which is 50m above the city of Broken Hill so provides a wonderful view. The coffees were great too! We spent the afternoon at Silverton - had lunch at the pub, visited the Mad Max 2 Museum (the kids will love the DVD's!) which brought back lots of great memories of the movies. Another big day ahead of us, but we were able to visit Great Cobar Heritage Centre for an hour before we left Cobar for Broken Hill - it was very cold but museum and open cut mine were excellent. Easy drive to Broken Hill - lots of Road Trains, wide loads and caravans but very picturesque. We stopped at Wilcannia for lunch then enjoyed spotting lots of goats, sheep, cows, kangaroos and emus on the journey to Broken Hill. Setup in the van park with awning, etc ...

Icy cold night in Bathurst. Kids slept like logs, but Greg & I were freezing! Departed at 10am for a long drive. Quick stop at Dubbo around 1pm for lunch and a coffee and we got back on the road. Highlight was our first interaction on the CB ("copy Rubber Ducky"!) with a driver asking about the Warren exit - Greg (and all of us) loved it! Arrived at Cobar Caravan Park just before 5pm. The last few days have been very hectic - we have enjoyed send-offs with friends, and we had lots of the usual last minute things to do before holidays. We finally departed home at 9.30 this morning (via Lyons Raw for coffee/juice) and headed to the Lane Cove Tourist Park to hitch up to the van. Finally on the M2 at 11.30! We 'checked out' of Neale's Storage and brought the van down to Lane Cove for a couple of weeks prior to our departure, ready to pack it!
