What else would be a perfect way to celebrate being together for 10 years.....
Getting on a bus at 6.30am needing the toilet for 4 hours on the bumpiest road in Vietnam in a hot, cramped minivan because the big coaches cannot make it along the road.
A comedy bus journey all the same. The driver kept stopping for locals to do what looked like their big shop at the local markets a long the way. This peaked when a Vietnamese lady started filling the already rammed bus with huge boxes. It soon became clear by the smell and noise that they were chicks and a lot of them. They stayed with us for the duration of the journey.
On arrival to the Dreams hotel we had splashed out on for the two night stay in Da Lat we were thirsty and starving. What else would be a perfect way to celebrate 10 years together...... A local Vietnamese dish named Banh Mi. This was the first time we tried the sandwich. We have walked past many Banh Mi stalls since being in Vietnam and it always looks quite appetising. Fresh Bread, BBQ pork, Pate, Chili, Egg, Chicken and salad. Sounds good. We managed to pick a bad one. The meat not so bad but it had a raw egg that had being whisked. The fact that the owners of the cafe sat and watched us eat it added to the already awkward situation. We forced down what we could manage and made for the exit. The bests thing in Vietnam so far for Matt is the coffee, it is world class. This afternoon we stumbled upon the coolest coffee shop EVER. Up bicycle. The decor was all homemade quirky and completely awesome. We have never been somewhere like this, when so many random pieces of furniture make sense. All this achieved by a small Vietnamese family. This coffee also managed to erase the taste of the lunch.

- An hour long, hot stone, $10 massage.
- Eat at a Vietnamese restaurant, making our own spring rolls, a coconut curry and chicken and ginger clay pot till you can't move any more. One of the best meals to date.
- Get lost in a strange city with a very clueless taxi driver for ten minutes to find out the bar you have ask him to take you is only 1 minute away from where we got in the taxi.
- Watch a crossroads festival (guitar summit setup by Eric Clapton) in a dead blues bar called 'Escape' waiting an hour and a half for a blues band to play.
- Matt played guitar for the band when the piano player left half way through the set because we and two perverts with underage girls were the only crowd.
A very well rounded celebration we think.
