After 321 days, 50,217.62 miles, 10 countries, 18 islands, 18 planes, 43 buses, 10 night buses, 40 car journeys, 39 boats,1 tandem bicycle, 3 airport sleeps, many overloaded motorbike and tuk tuk rides, 1 skydive, 1 canyon swing, 1 skiing trip, 1 bridge climb, 2 whale watching tours, 4 cooking classes, 1 fishing trip, 1 caving experience, 1 off-road driving weekend, 1 surf school, 2 bioluminescent plankton swims, 1 ghost tower climb, 1 capsized whitewater raft, 1 evacuation from a sinking boat, 2 hospitalisations, 1 tropical virus, 1 earthquake, 1 robbery, 1 near death experience, 1 police bribe, 1 immigration bribe, 2 land border crossings, 1 rip tide emergency, 6 fergburgers, 100's of games of V69, 15 UNESCO World Heritage Sites (including Barrier Reef, Fraser Island, Blue Mountains, Angkor Wat, Sigirya Rock, Halong Bay and Phong Nha caves), 1 eye to eye encounter with an orangutan, eaten enough curries to least a life time, used hundreds of disgusting toilets, drank several times our body weight in alcohol, thousands of photos, 321 blog entries AND A PROPOSAL.... SURPRISE.... WE ARE HOME AND ENGAGED!!
In our time removed from normal life we have seen old friends, made life long friends and seen places more beautiful than we could ever have imagined. The only word to describe how we feel today, knowing what we have seen is, LUCKY. We have had the best year and it feels like we are going to have the best Christmas.
