After a fabulous farewell party and early birthday party for Shaun in London, the 5 of us travellers set off on our 5-month world adventure!! The plane ride was a looong 11.5 hours but so worth it for what was awaiting us - an awesome apartment right on Copacabana Beach! So good to go to sleep with the sound of the waves crashing again!

Today there's going to be a massive party on the beach in front of our apartment as they announce who is the winner of the bid for the 2016 Olympics. Rio is a contender along with Madrid, Chicago and Tokyo. It feels just as festive as New Years with loads of people on the beach, people dressed up, stage and 2 big screens. Oh - and they've given everyone a public holiday this afternoon just so they can party. Come on Rio!!
