The apartment's location was excellent with regard to ease of access to the Marathon finish, the buses and ferries, however there was one drawback there were builders working on the next block who started work at 7am , so no lie ins for the weary runners.
We had a morning to do some more exploring and decided to go back to Valletta on the bus as the Cathedral was shut on Saturday and the rain had disrupted the latter part of our visit.
The cultural trip was good for the Le Goods who don't do much culture, the interior of the cathedral was spectacular and the beautiful city was appreciated more by having a second visit.
We returned to the Sliema for lunch and awaited our taxi for the airport by which time the rain had set in.
The weather was unseasonably cool and wet but it hasn't spoilt our weekend especially when we saw that the UK was getting snow. I would never had considered Malta for a weekend destination but the easy access of the airport and cheap and easy transport make it a great destination for winter sunshine, a bit of culture and a long run downhill.
