Hya everyone from AMERICA !!!!!!
So we got off a long 10 hour flight from the lovely fiji to land in Los Angeles. I was very excited to be in America finally as this has been where I've been looking forward to the most. It took us nearly three hours to get out the airport and hang around for the shuttle But we finally got to our hotel called stay on main. It was situated in downtown la which isn't the best part of the city but it was a nice hotel and cheap exactly what were after. By the time We got checked in and settled we didn't have much time to do much so got our heads down for the night.
Day 1
Our first whole day
On our first day in la we decided we would explore the local area we were positioned in. We were only 1km away from the financial district where there were some massive buildings. Also in downtown there are many many museums which have samples of there work outside for you to get a picture with. We took full advantage of this as we didn't want to spend too much time in them. We then went and found the Walt Disney concert hall where we got some pictures outside of it. The architecture on this building was remarkable the way it had been designed. It was really cool as your see in the pictures. After finding that we decided to try and find a supermarket where we could get some dinner for ourselves. On the way back we spotted alot of cameras and people shooting some filming. Straight away I was over there and looking to see what was going on. They were filming a commercial for the car Audi. We stood around for ten minutes then carried on where we come across another film set. This one was another commercial for Hyundai another car company, it's really clever to watch how they get what they want. We then found the local supermarket which was called Ralph's. We didn't really know what to expect but within 5 minutes we were loving it. One for the price of everything and because of the size the stuff comes in. There really is nothing small here and you always end up buying the bigger size because of how cheap it is. A great first day to LA
DAY 2
we got up quite early as we missed the breakfast the first morning and headed down to get the free breaky . We thought the breakfast would be pancakes or waffles and we were right it was waffles. They were really nice and with a touch of sugar it was a kick start to the day. Not good for our bodies but hey where on holiday. So we decided today we would go and see what the big shopping outlets were like. We found a big outlet online which offers a free shuttle service so we decided we would do that. It was called the citadel outlet store which was only a ten minute ride away. It was a lovely shopping mall all outside with 115 designer brands on offer to us. We spent nearly 6 hours of shopping and probably 2 of them in the nike factory store. It was huge In there and we've never seen so many trainers on offer at such cheap prices. I treated myself to a pair of running trainers after being so indecisive on what colour to choose haha. We could of bought loads of stuff but it would of been too much trouble carrying the stuff around with us in our rucksacks. Once we got back to Central LA I decided we would go and check out the staples centre. For you people that don't know what this is it's the place where the LA lakers play and la clippers (basketball teams) So it's a stadium where all the action goes down. Across the road from the staples centre is LA. Live and the Nokia centre. It's were they film and televise stuff, it also hosts awards nights such as the Grammys and the Emmys . Around this area provides you with loads of restaurants and bars for you to go to. They were promoting the new season of 24 ( massive american drama) which starts on the 5th of May so we got to get a photo of where they made up a scene for abit of fun. They also had a zip Line Hooked up for people to enjoy. Check out the photo and your see what I'm trying to say. After all the entertainment for the day we were shattered so we headed back and got rested ready for another busy day .
DAY 3
So today I couldn't wait any longer we were heading to the one place I had been dying to go to that's right ...................HOLLYWOOD !!!!! We got up nice and early again as it was going to be a long one. Had our waffles and put on my new runners and headed out. Before we went to the metro where we would be going to hollywood we took a detour to the Staples centre again. As I love the basketball we both decided we wanted to go and watch a match. After doing some research I found out it was the nba playoffs of the season and it was a great opportunity as the LA clippers were playing Oklahoma City. It would be a great game as 4 of the biggest names of nba would be in action so we went down to the ticket office to see if they had any left. It was great news as they had some left for the game which would be on Friday. They didn't have any seats next to eachother but they had some afew rows apart which was fine so we managed to get some. I was over the moon and Lauren was aswell as she was looking forward to watching the cheerleaders. But I guess that will be just as good as the game for me haha. After sorting out our tickets we started making our way towards the metro centre. Before we could get passed the LA Live section where the televise programs across America a man approached me and Lauren (I think it was my new trainers). He asked us if we wanted to go and watch a live show called the ESPN sports nation. I thought he was on a whind up with me until I saw his wired up earpiece. The studio was a live sports show that had a 24 guest audience. He told us two people hadn't turned up and needed another two. We just happened to be at the right place at the right time. Then we were like definitely if it's free we're be well up for it. So within 15 minutes we were being walked up the VIP studio and joined In the hallway with 22 other sport fanatics. We both couldn't believe it and if it couldn't get any better we were told there would be a special guest appearing with us to be interviewed. After bringing us all into the studio and seated the producer told us what would be happening and who the guest was. I really wanted to know as in the hallway they have pictures of people hanging up of who they've had on in the past. Two of the people we saw were usher and David Beckham. So they have had some great guests on the show. Today the guest was Quiton Jackson aka Rampage Jackson this guy is a deadly man . He is a former light heavyweight UFC fighter / wrestler. He has also been In the film the A-team remake as BA. If you still don't know who he is google him or youtube him and your see what he does. I've watched him before and seen him fight so I knew instantly and was really excited to see him. This day couldn't get any better. The show was a live 60 minute show and we both enjoyed every second of it. After the show we got pictures with the presenters and the studio. We couldn't get a picture with rampage personally as he had to go before the show finished which was a shame but still a great experience for us. I did get a picture of him though so your see him on our photos. If you want to know more just google ESPN Sportsnation and i might well appear online somewhere as all of us in the audience was filmed with rampage. After being escorted back down to the stairs we got brought back to normality and just had a slow walk to the metro I still couldn't believe our luck.
Once we arrived to hollywood it was exactly how we both pictured it in our minds. We arrived on hollywoods walk of fame and it was so so busy full of tourists and people dressed up as characters from films. People were performing stunts and tricks and people trying to sell you CDs and lots of memorabilia of Hollywood. We decided to go and get some food and just people watch for a while. I really wanted to do one of them tours where they take you all around Hollywood and see all the famous peoples houses in Beverley hills. We decided on doing a trip to get our bearings around Hollywood. Our tour was called superstar celebrity home tours.
It was a 2 hour tour where they take you to mulholland drive where there is a lookout over the whole of Los Angeles and a view of the iconic sign the great HOLLYWOOD. We also go to sunset strip , bel air , Melrose avenue, Beverly Hills, rodeo drive and the farmers market. We started with mulholland drive where we get to see the hollywood sign. The lookout over the whole of the city was remarkable as your see. Finally we got to see the hollywood sign in real life it didn't feel right but also it was another good thing to see in person. After grabbing some photos we made our way back down the hills to sunset blvd. sunset blvd is a celebrity hotspot this is where your likely to see them walking around hanging about. We passed the famous club called the Viper room where ozzy Osborne used to play before he went huge. Celebrities visit this place most weeks the likes of Jennifer Anniston , Angelina Jolie and Leonardo dicaprio visit often. Johnny depp bought the viper room in 1996 where he decided he wanted to be a rockstar but then decided to become one of hollywoods biggest movie stars instead. We then passed a place called whiskey a go go. The likes of Neil diamond and Metallica played here it was the place rock n roll took over the world. Next to this was the comedy store where Eddie Murphy started his career.
A minutes drive up the road we stopped at a place called the Roxy it's a celebrity nightclub and they all come here from Beverly Hills. A place everyone would want to go if they were aloud. Before we knew it we were turning into Beverly Hills itself and Straight away it looked glamorous and how you see it on the films. The first house we pulled up to was Marilyn Monroes house when she was alive. It was huge as you can image with 10 metre high gates. No one famous lives there at present that they know of. Driving along Beverley hills was like paradise up into the hills somthing you need to see for yourself . It's defiantly a place for the rich and famous. Our next stop was the famous ozzy Osborne house. Another mansion he doesn't actually live there now he's moved to Malibu on the beach. Christiana agulira bought this off him afew years ago and currently lives their now. Our next stop was one of the most famous in Beverly Hills Madonnas. After viewing hers we went to a place that looked like a castle it was the biggest I've ever seen. It was called grey stone and is owned by Beverly Hills and no one lives in it. They use this place for films , the likes of rush hour , godfather , the bodyguard , Spider-Man and the social network all have filmed here. It comes with 46 aches of land it's incredible. After this we rolled onto the corner of the street where the Beverly Hills hotel is positioned. If the celebs are visiting LA they all stay here it's unbelievable. Then we went back up the hills where we saw mine and Lauren's favourite for the day it was the legend himself David beckhams mansion. The house was positioned quite near the big gates so we got a good look at his place. Not far from Beckhams was Michael Jackson's mansion. You can't see his pad just the huge iron gates that havnt been open since he died in 2009. After this was the Playboy Mansion. Again we didn't get much of a view but still good to see what we could of it. About 400 metres up the road was Justin biebers mansion that he bought for his mum at $20 million dollars. We also saw gorge clooneys pad , Paris Hilton's, Elvis Presley's ,Lindsay lohans, Britney Spears and Tamara ecclestones house that has 122 rooms. We stopped at another house they used for films especially horrors it's called the witches house.
After seeing all the houses we made our way down the hills to the most famous and expensive shopping street called Rodeo drive. It's where all the a list celebs shop. At the end of rodeo drive it the famous Beverly wilshire hotel where they filmed pretty woman. Opposite is the largest Louis Vuitton in the world. Before going back to hollywood Blvd we got taken to a spot where the most famous movie producer lives up in the hills Steven Spielberg. He has a view over the whole of Beverly Hills and it's worth $84 million dollars wow......!!! Once we started to come down hollywood blvd we went passed TCL Chinese theatre where the famous people have their hand prints and footprints casted in concrete, It also hosts movie premiers. After passing this we then stopped at the Dolby theatre(formerly known as the kodak theatre) . The most famous place on Hollywood where it holds the academy awards the Oscars. After a great tour we went and checked out all the famous peoples footprints and handprints and got some great photos . We then went and looked round the Dolby theatre before walking up and down the walk of fame. We checked out all the merchandise in the shops before heading back to the CBD where our hotel was. It was another long day for ourselves but also a great one aswell.
DAY 4
As we had such a great time yesterday in Hollywood we decided we would go back there today as we didn't get that much time to look at it all. We caught a bus into Hollywood where we walked up to the famous rodeo drive and had a slow walk down it looking in all the lovely shops. We spent a while around this area before moving onto wilshire blvd where they have all the lovely car garages. Likes of mclaren, Ferrari , Maserati , Porsche and land rover are all spread down this road. I loved looking at all the cars in the garages not sure Lauren did but really good fun. We carried on walking along wilshire blvd before heading up robertson blvd where the most famous cafe is in Beverley hills. It's called the Ivy , it's meant to be the celebrity hotspot at lunchtime. We did want to go in there but it starts at $100 ahead which is out of our league haha. So we walked past as slow as we could to see if we could see anyone outside but I didn't notice anyone. We grabbed a chocolate mocha from Starbucks and sat outside taking in all the lovely sights Beverly has to offer you here. We checked out all the lovely shops before making our way up to Melrose avenue. This is a really nice little area with lovely little cafés and small bars for people to dine in. We saw Artem from strictly come dancing chilling out having some lunch in urth cafe. Our last destination for the day was sunset plaza where we were catching the bus from. We had a nice long walk along the plaza and saw Some very very expensive cars outside all the swanky cafés. It was a great end to the day before returning to downtown.
DAY 5
Today we thought we would go and check out the famous MALIBU!!! It was a fair distance away from where we were staying so we set off quite early. We had to get two buses changing halfway through and it took near on two hours to get there. There's a long highway that runs right through mailbu until it reaches the end called tapzas. At the end is a beach called Zumba beach. It's where they filmed the famous Baywatch where david hasslehoff Andy Pamela Anderson strutted their stuff. It was a lovely beach exactly how I imagined it. After we got back on the bus and travelled back down to Malibu lagoon. It's also home to surf riders beach. There are three points for the surfers here with some good little breaks. We then wondered onto the pier and got to see carbon beach know as (millionaire beach). A person called Larry Ellison owns ten properties there but with $84 billion to your name I suppose it didn't even make a dent. We wanted to walk along the beach to look at all the lovely houses but it was a high tide so we couldn't get down there. We passed a place called NOBU it's where all the rich and famous eat nearly every night. It overlooks the Pacific Ocean and carbon beach . The car park was full of super cars and range rovers. We then walked further down and went to mailbu country mart to get some lunch . We went to a place called calipotle their all over America here. We had burritos it's a kind of Mexican that sell tacos aswell very nice. We had a look in all the really nice shops before walking to the colony plaza about 2ks from carbon beach. You can't access the plaza as it's all fenced off for privacy. It's a row of mansions on the beach where Leonardo dicaprio lives , Mel Gibson, Bruce Willis and Tom hanks etc.......we then grabbed a nice cold drink after endless of walking before getting the bus back to downtown LA .
DAY 6
Today we returned back upto sunset plaza where we were going to go for a nice lunch called urth cafe. We visited it a couple of days ago but it was too busy to get a seat but as we got up to late and the bus took so long to get there we had to just have a look around sunset before heading back down to highland hollywood. We wanted to get back to hollywoods walk of fame for around 5 as the premier for Godzilla was tonight and we wanted to get a good view of all the celebs on the red carpet. While waiting we got chatting to a guard who was at present where we were standing. He was actually called in as a last minute favour as he usually is a personal bodyguard. We had to ask him who he usually works for and it was Dr.Dre. So instantly I was firing him with questions one after an other. He weren't aloud to tell us much but it seems he has a great life looking after him. He has also been a mr universe 3 times which was pretty cool, so after all the Dre questions come the gym ones. Lauren was getting pretty bored but it wasted a lot of time while we were waiting hahah. So we managed to get right in a good spot where the stars come down the carpet at the front. I was really excited as one of the main stars Bryan Cranston was in it and I was desperate to see him. He's one of the biggest names in Hollywood at the moment coming out the back of Breaking bad which I loved as one of the best series I've watched. We then got interviewed to be in some Japanese channel which was pretty funny as I was trying to think of somthing to say haha, they were asking such random questions. They then started throwing out t-shirts wrapped in elastic bands and inside some of them were tickets to see the premiere in the Dolby theatre. She threw one my way and I nearly took out 4 Asian women to get it but I got the t shirt ..........and guess what there were tickets in there WINNER!!!!!!!! So we were really happy to go into the theatre and to see a free movie. So we got to see some of the cast at the fencing. Gene Simmons from a rock band (kiss) come over to say hello .....at the time i didn't know who he was people were going crazy for him . Tried to get a selfie with him but failed as the camera was playing up. He was with his wife ex playboy Shannon tweed. We saw loads more some we weren't to sure on but one the ones I did know were Jamie Chung , Seth green ( italian job) ice t , nat Kelly (la lakers) and loads more. So as expected Bryan was last to arrive I called him as soon as I saw him and he come over to see us. I was about to shake his hand before about 4 Asians rammed there photos for him to sign right infront of me. Managed to exchange afew words and get a photo of him. It started getting pretty hectic so he left and made his way in. We watched the film with our free popcorn and drinks and Lauren got to experience her first 3D film. Another great day in LA
DAY 7 clippers vs thunder
Today is Friday and that means one thing SHOWTIME BABY!!!! But before the big game we decided we wanted to get a better look at the Hollywood sign as from hollywood highland it's still a long way away. We took the subway as far as we could before taking a taxi up into the hills to a place called the Griffith's observatory theatre. It's right up in the hills and you can get a good look at the Hollywood sign aswell as a look right out over Los Angeles. As you can imagine the views were magnificent and really cool. The weather was clear but quite misty. Shame because on a clear day you can see right to the Pacific Ocean. I hope your be able to see this In the photos I took. Once we spent time looking around the theatre and taking in all the sights, Lauren wanted to try and get Even closer and go on a trek up into the hills. We were getting short of time but we went anyway and went to a peak which was another 200 m closer and got a better picture so it was well worth it. The pictures don't do it much justice which is a shame. When your actually there in person it looks a lot closer then it does by photo if that makes sense. So once we got back to the observatory centre we waited for a cab hoping one would be coming back up ......15 minutes later there was still no sign and we couldn't hang around so we started walking back down the hills. It was a 1 hours walk to get to the bottom where we could catch a bus. You wouldn't believe it in that whole hour we didn't see one taxi the whole time. So by the end of it and getting down we were shattered . We grabbed the bus back to the subway and made our way back to our hotel to get ready for the basketball. I wanted to get there nice and early because opposite the staples centre they have bands and entertainment going on for everyone. The also have games and free stuff so there would be plenty to keep us busy. We treated ourselves to our first dinner out in America and it was lovely. It was in a place called the farm on Beverly and we had sirloin burgers haha. After enjoying afew beers and dinner we took to the la live centre where it was all going on. There was a basketball court set up for people to play on and free stuff being handed out. We got some cool photos of us pretending to be in the changing rooms of the clippers and Lauren got a free hat for promoting some company via twitter. We hanged around for a while then made our way into the staples centre where on arrival we received a free t-shirt supporting the clippers. All this free stuff we've been given I'll be able to fill another rucksack before I come home. Inside the staple centre we found our seats which were in a great place and we had a good view of the court. Before the game started there was the cheerleaders who come on to give us a lift from our seats to get us all going ........well all the men shall we say. The music was pumping and everyone was looking forward to it. It was the 3rd game of the playoffs with the score at 1-1 , So it was all to play for. The cameras were panning around the whole of the stadium between quarters and we saw rihanna who was courtside with Floyd (money) mayweather. So at the next quarter I went right down to the front where I could see them both more clearly, you could spot floyd a mile away with all the bling reflecting off him. He looking abit like a chandelier haha. The game was really good and it resulted with oaklahama winning 116-112. It was a great experience to finally go to a basketball game and we would love to go again sometime.
LAST DAY IN LA
our last day was one we had been leaving to the end as we wanted a hot day for it and this was as we were going to the famous Venice beach before walking up to Santa Monica. We didn't arrive till gone one as it takes just over an hour to get there by their slow buses here. We wanted to go up the broadway by bike or rollerblades but you had to return them to the same place. This was a problem as we wanted to go back from Santa Monica so instead we walked it to the pier. But before we did that we had a look around venice. The beach was lovely and before we knew it we were outside muscle beach where the famous gym is. There were some funny sights in there and we had a right laugh watching. Lauren kept trying to get me inside the cage but i don't think I would of felt safe so I just watched. We went out the back of the gym where their were some ropes and some pulleys for me to play around with. You could spend a whole day in venice just people watching it's great. Once we had enough in venice we walked along the broad walk to Santa Monica pier. It was a nice walk in the sun with some cool little trendy shops for us to stop by and have a look in. Lauren finally bought some new Havainas that's she's been wanting since leaving gatwick on the 1st of December. So she might have to finally throw away he manky pink ones she's been holding onto forever haha. I had to buy another pair of cheap sunglasses as I've broken all of mine. Me and sunglasses don't seem to get on I've been through 5 pairs since leaving oh well. When getting to Santa Monica Pier we noticed loads of people doing yoga. You would of loved this mum there was a huge session going on for everyone to join in your see in the picture. We had a look around the pier and got our photo with the great end of Route 66 sign before making our way up to 3rd street where all the shops are. We had a look Around the famous Bloomingdales which was a really posh area. Santa Monica would be a lovely place to live with all the little cafés and bars they have to offer you.
So we leave to go to Sin city tomorrow yes that's right LAS VEGAS!! we meet our friends from home dan and Karl from the airport , we can't wait to see some similar faces as it's been so so long it's going to be a great week. For you lot interested in vegas we staying In the Venetian so check it out........hopefully the next time I speak to you all I'll be a MILLIONAIRE ......with any luck that is xxxx
