Its two weeks today since I arrived in Ghana and the cold of the UK Winter feels a world away. Sabre's Transformational Teacher Training programme is truly inspiring and the team are awesome, super dedicated, full of ideas and enthusiasm. I've had a rapid-fire introduction to the work, with visits to our model classrooms, observing training and getting insight into the planning and strategy of the programme.
Last week ended on a high with a really positive meeting with one of Ghana's biggest names in education (Prof. Anamuah-Mensah) which will really help open doors. This week we travelled to the Western Region to meet with trainers at the Holy Child college of education who will be rolling out the program with us in two districts over there and we'll start screening schools to take part in the early part of next year.
I'm comfortable enough in the office accommodation but looking forward to moving into a friend's new house soon. I've had a couple of bits of furniture made that will be ready next week, and I'm looking forward to my new bed already (with high density foam mattress, oh yeah!) - goodbye bed-slat-failure which led to a couple of bumps in the night in my first week.
Aside from work, last weekend, I spent a luxurious day by the pool, I've enjoyed a few evenings drinking Club and enjoying the sunset up at Sea Top and as yesterday was a national holiday (Farmers Day), me, Ellie and Katie went to Stumble Inn and spent the day on the beach. Lush!
Clearly, I'm very happy to be here and very happy to be on board at Sabre and I'll keep you all posted on what happens next!
