We had to tip toe around again this morning to catch our bus at 8.30am out of Byron Bay. It only took 1hr to get up to Surfers Paradise, but we weren't picked up on time so didn't get there until about 10am...actually, it was 9am!!! We didn't realise that the clocks went back 1 hour when we went from New South Wales to Queensland. And we've arranged to meet some friends!

We're staying with Mel and Paul who we met in Laos! Fortunately, they kind of already thought we might not have realised the time difference so were prepared. And they were there to pick us up within about 15 minutes of calling them. How amazing is that? We met them in Laos, then bumped into them again in Thailand and now they putting us up for 4 nights at their house. Too nice.

We got back to their lovely home and were given our own room. We're so happy to be in a proper house! It's so nice after being in hostels. Home comforts! We had a cup of coffee and some biscuits and had a catch up about all our travels.

Then they made us some lovely lunch - salad wraps! After our lunch, they took us up to Burleigh Heads. Unfortunately, the weather isn't great at the moment - really cloudy. But we still had a nice walk around through the small National Park. They took us to a spot they normally go to where the river and sea meet, but the water was a browny colour from all the rains. Still nice down there though.

After the walk, we'd worked up a thirst, so Mel and Paul took us to a Life Savers Club. Really nice place actually. Nothing like a club we would expect...especially nothing like a working mens club. We just had a quick one there and headed back to their house.

They already had a friends' party to go to tonight so we made ourselves a bit of tea and watched some TV.
It's nice to be in our own bedroom too, on a decent bed!
