Attempted breakfast at Denny's but it was expensive really, so we went over the road for cheap McDonalds. They sell fruit parfaits over here though, so that's quite healthy. I got the sausage and egg McGriddle instead. I thought it was going to be almost panini style being called griddle. It was sausage and egg with a slice of cheese and two raisin and cinnamon pancakes around it all! Disgusting. Why would you eat all that together?
So, we stopped in this random place, Sylmar, because it was fairly cheap and close to Six Flags Magic Mountain Theme Park. It's normally $60 (£40) each, but we booked our tickets online for $35 (£22) each, so got a good bargain. The robbing gits charged us $15 (£10) for the privilege of using the car park though.
When we were walking up from the carpark, I saw this guy and joked with Therese saying it was Calvin from Hollyoaks. Then we realised it actually was Calvin and also Steph from Hollyoaks!
There's a ridiculous amount of roller-coasters at the Magic Mountain. And they're brilliant! It makes Alton Towers look a bit like a kid's playground. There were a couple similar to Alton Towers, but they were much longer. We went on Goliath, Ninja, Batman, Ridler's Revenge, Scream and some others.
I was really really disappointed (actually I think Therese would say something more like I was whinging like a little child) to find that Superman wasn't open to general ticket customers, only to special pass holders. That ride is the whole reason we went to the park. I watched a program years ago on the Discovery channel about how it was made etc. It basically shoots along straight at high speed, then speeds up vertical into the sky, like Superman. It's propelled by magnets, which is how it goes so fast, so quick. I thought I'd explain all that so that you know why I'm disappointed. So now you understand, right?
However, there was another ride that more than made up for it. X2 - the best ride I've ever been on in my life, easily!! It was unbelievable! We got in and sat backwards, then once we were strapped in, the chair tilted back until we were almost flat on our backs. So the ride set off and we were going backwards up this long steep part. We had no idea where the drop was. Then it slowed down, and the drop came. We did this loop, and then somehow we were facing forward but also looking straight down, so flat on our stomach, and it really felt like we were going to drop down. Then it was just even more crazy from there doing all kinds of loops and stuff, then there was fire blasting out...it was awesome! This ride got me screaming like a girl, and no ride has done that to me before. So there you have it, scariest ride in the world, proven by me.
Fantastic theme park and a must do for anyone visiting LA. There's always vouchers for discount in tour magazines too.
We were thinking of staying in Los Angeles for the night and having a night on the town, but by the time we got back to LA, we were just too tired, so decided to head in the direction of Las Vegas, but stop off at a motel on the way.
We drove for an hour to a place called Pomona. We found a motel through the Sat Nav, and went there to ask the price, which was $60 (£40). We decided to drive around a bit to see if anywhere was cheaper, but the next place was the same price. Drove a bit further...it was a bit like a ghetto. The next few motels we saw looked awful. One place was like porta-cabins. We went back to the first place, but then they didn't have any non-smoking rooms. So, we decided to drive a few more miles along the motorway and eventually found a Howard Johnson motel for $66 (£40). It's £10 more than we wanted to pay, but we're not going to get any cheaper just turning up at this time of night! 11.45pm by the time we got in our room!
