Well... we started our new job on monday the 14th of Feb and it is a lot better than the last one. For a start we actually get paid which is always good and we're getting paid by the hour with breaks instead of per bin so we don't have to work as hard. It's hard work and our knees and back and shoulders are proper aching after a week of it but at least we know we're getting paid for it. Nashi fruit is also really nice and expensive to buy and we get to eat it whilst we're working and take some home with us if we want. There are some massive spiders at this place. We've seen big black hairy crab like ones, red and white striped ones and most recently a white and red one which looked a bit like a scorpion and was twisting its food onto a spider web washing line. Needless to say the bits with the spiders on don't get picked quite as thoroughly as those without. We also met a guy called Arthur from Bristol at the first farm we were on and he ended up coming to work at the new place too and he's staying in the same camp site as us.
Sleeping in a tent is not as bad as we thought it would be. I put the tent up whilst Lee fannied around and took photos and then admired "our" hard work and said, "I think we've done a good job of that babe!" It's ok most nights but last night went down to 5 degrees so we were freezing and it's forecast for the next couple of days so we're gonna have to layer up or a while. Lee also managed to break the second phone of the journey. The first one we bought and Lee left in his board shorts pocket and went in the sea, the second one Lee left in his pocket and stuck it in the washing machine.
Other than that Shepparton is pretty boring. We get up at 5am every morning and put on the same skanky smelly clothes and shoes as we don't want to ruin more than one set, Wait for Harpreet (an indian co-worker) to pick us up, work till half 3 and then come back to the camp site, shower watch home and away and my kitchen rules (basically a much better, australian version of come dine with me) eat dinner and go to bed. There is a pool here too so if the weather is nice ( which is not as often as you'd think considering we're in australia) we can cool off in there and sunbathe after work.
