We arrived at the strangest sleeping bus yet... It had seats above, in pairs, to lie on and what looked like storage space underneath the seats. It turned out the dark window-less area underneath the seats were also beds and not only that but they were for me and Lee.... We were one of the last to get on the bus so most of the seats had been taken. When Lee realized the floor was a bed he was made up with the space and dove down on the ground... I reluctantly followed (telling everyone its a romantic gesture because I refuse to let him be alone in the dark- Lee told everyone it was because he had the food).... Either way I lived to regret that bold statement..... At first Lee was all smiley stretching his legs out. I was trying not to freak out. It was really dark and you couldn't sit up so I wrapped myself in my sleeping bag, got a torch and read until I passed out (praying there weren't any bugs or that the beds above me didn't collapse).... I woke to someone standing on my hair instead. As I looked around I could see lots of Vietnamese, who work in Laos but had gone home for TET, climbing aboard. They were climbing over me to get further underneath the seats. I managed to scramble across to find Lee. I was startled, i was half asleep and i felt like I was trapped. Not a nice feeling. My jumper (i had taken off) was stuck underneath two men who had wriggled into the place I had been lying two seconds prior, they couldn't speak any English so i had to leave the jumper (I got it later when the bus stopped). I started having abit of a panic attack because I couldn't sit up, I could only see the Bodies that were almost on top of me, I could hear loads of shuffling behind me and I was trapped in my sleeping bag. I stood up in the aisle having to push past people who were not moving for me thats when I saw how many were now on the coach (they looked like they were about to do oops up side your head). The people sat on the seats above were in shock at how many people were now on the bus too. Seriously there was so little space I was struggling to stand and had to lie back down under the seat next to Lee. We were 2 hours into the 24 hour journey. To cut a long night short we had 2 official stops for the toilet (we all piled off at a petrol station and we pulled up at a non English speaking side street cafe who refused to serve as she 'no understand'), the driver didn't speak English, which meant we didn't drink (we didn't no when the next toilet stop would be) or eat... 2 girls from Vietnam who had a seat squashed up to let me and Lee sit on with them for a couple of hours so we could have a breather - it was so hot and sweaty under there. Even Lee was freaking out by then. We ended the last 6 hours sitting in the aisle of the bus waiting to arrive in Vientiane.
