We arrived in Hoi An and first impressions were same same but different. When we arrived at our hotel we were amazed. It was the nicest place we'd stayed. There was a kettle! There was a spa bath, a mosquito net, fresh bedding and the room was spotless. Perfect! We went down and got a free bicycle. The man on the front desk gave us a map and told us where everything was so off we peddled.... Straight to the beach. We peddled through the clean country road to the beach. We parked the bikes outside a beach bar/ restaurant and got a couple of drinks. The piña colada I got was awful. I couldn't drink it. You could see something congealed in it. The girl came and asked why I didn't want it so I had to tell her it's horrible... She genuinely wanted to know what was wrong with it. I had a cocktail app on my phone so I showed her how it should be made, next minute I was in the kitchen with the waiter making one and it was beautiful (if I do say so myself). On the beach there is always people walking around trying to sell something. Some are my nanas age, carrying heavy baskets, walking up and down the beach. In Hoi An we have to say the people selling are the friendliest people. The people we met just wanted to talk rather than sell. After they got the sale pitch out the way the lady who sat with us said 'oh I'm exhausted, it's very hot, how old are you, where are you from, are you married, I wish I was white?, I have children' blah blah general chit chat when u meet people. The beach isn't the nicest we've seen and we decided to not go in the water but the people were lovely. After our ride back we got changed and went to see the rest of the town. This is such a beautiful town that really looks amazing at night. It has a huge French influence in the architecture. The lanterns at night just made the buildings even more beautiful. I bought a 'silk' sleeping bag (it's light weight and covers me when I'm too hot for a cover but don't want to touch the surface I'm lying on) there are loads of Taylor's and shops. We ended up buying a couple of lanterns too. We've decided they will look cool in our home when we grow up :)
We shopped, had a few drinks then went back to the hotel ready for the early rise to get the bus to Hue.
