We got picked up outside our guesthouse and headed to Krabi town pier. We picked up a Dutch couple on the way from Rotterdam who ended up being our friends for the trip. When we got to the pier everybody else on the boat was Thai. The guide would speak English then Thai. He seemed to be making jokes when he spoke to his Thai listeners because they were laughing after he spoke... We're leaving now and heading to the 1st island didn't seem that funny to me or Lee or the Dutch couple? Lee spotted a Thai lad with an iPad he was using it to take pictures so Lee started going on about how much he wants an iPad. I couldnt help myself, I went over to the lad and (once I'd established if he spoke English) I showed him an app that lets you take Panoramic pictures. He was so excited, he uploaded the pic straight to Facebook! I took the iPad off him and told him to walk as I took the picture. He nearly wee'd when he saw he was in the same picture 3-4 times again the pic got uploaded straight to Facebook. A genuinely nice person he was and very thankful for my interference.
The boat pulled up at chicken island 1st. It is an island that has a huge chicken head coming out of it. The stop was a snorkel stop so we jumped off the boat. Before we got in the water the man off the boat threw bread in and thousands of fish came. I was a little bit scared to get in with so many hungry fish so i waited for the feeding frenzy to calm down then lowered myself in. Before i had chance to put my snorkel in my mouth Lee threw half a loaf in and the fish seem to have mistook my pale legs for bread and started nipping me. Lee thought it was hilarious as did the people in the boat laughing... I was too busy to laugh. I was busy trying to breath, scream, wriggle like a loon and look for my snorkel - that I think I threw in a blind panic??? yep the snorkel was gone but I still had the mask... I held my breath and put my head in the water... Fish! Everywhere and they're not scared! One tried to head but me! When Lee got in we held hands and went off exploring. After our snorkel we were back on the boat and off to the Tup islands. It was low tide so the two islands looked like they were connected by a strip of sand that we could walk on. This little stop was to sunbath but the water was crystal clear so we went for a paddle. As Lee sat in the water loads of black and yellow fish swam up to him. He had a go at planking with them.... To be honest it looked like they were copying??? Next stop was Phra Nang Cave. I didnt realise what the wooden post, which i was leaning on as we looked into the cave, was until Lee told me... Well Lee said 'you do realize your leaning on a big wooden penis' in my shock and horror I said excuse me you dirty mare what are you on about. People were around and he said it a little loud so I was thinking it was a bit of a rude joke! It turns out the cave was kitted out with statues of penises of all shapes and sizes. Apparently the cave is something to do with a princess spirit that's worshipped by locals. The phallic like objects are something to do with fertility. We casually walked away and sat on the beach to watch the rock climbers. A thai woman and her husband came and sat with us. She was saying she came to the sane stretch of beach 20 years ago and it was just a beach with very few people on it. Now it had a hotel, beach huts, restaurant and the beach was full. She said she remembered the 1st Mc Donald's coming to Thailand and everyone saying Thai people wouldn't eat that food. Now there's a Mc Donald's in nearly every district. Mc Donald's is seen as a wealth status over here?. She moved to America 20 years ago with her husband and comes back to Thailand every year. She was saying how much everything changes within a year. Everything is becoming more commercialised so quickly. The dutch couple came to join us. As they sat down a woman on the beach started speaking to us in Thai. The lady sat with us translated. Apparent there were poisonous caterpillars in the tree above us! So we moved.
After our sunbath on the beach we were back on the boat and heading for Poda Island. This is we're people had the choice to either lie on the beach or do some squid fishing. We opted for squid! We were given a plastic bottle with fishing wire on it and a bright Coloured fish with 4 hooks coming out of its mouth. Me and Lee caught nothing. A girl at the back of the boat caught one though!
There's lots of random limestone formations coming out of the sea that are classed as islands so we took pictures of the scenery as we headed back to the pier in Krabi town. We were speaking to an old Thai couple about Thai food and they were telling us must eat foods. One desert they said was sticky rice and mango. So we decided we'd have ti try it.
Once back we said good bye and jumped on the van back to our guesthouse. We went out so we could buy a bag for me. My bags zip broke the other day so off to the shops we went. I managed to get a Marc Jacobs handbag with removable satchel for 1,000 bahts (£20). It seemed like a massive bargain especially after a cheeky woman in one of the shops practically kicked me out of her shop when I asked if she had bags for less than 1,000 bahts?! (Lee thought it was so funny when I left the shop a little red in the face and told him she told me I was 'in the wrong shop'). I safely put my new bag back in the room then we went for a few drinks. It started raining again so we went back to the room.
