Through talking to other backpackers, we had heard that it was worth taking a little detour from the main coastal route inland a bit, to this small town of Nimbin. It is famed for its hippy community that have existed here since the start of the hippy movement in the 60's. We had heard that is supposed to be a bit like Amsterdam, minus the red lights. Oh the dissappointment when we got there! It consisted of 1 main road through the 'town', and had probably no more than 15-20 little shops that sold all your hippy paraphanalia. I guess we thought it may have lots of little streets with interesting shops and stalls, but it was nothing like this at all.
