Sun Oct 10th 2010--- Rain Rain Go Away!

The bad weather seems to be following us wherever we go!I feel so sorry for Simon; he's getting such a warped version of Australian weather.The poor guy hasn't even spent much time on the beach yet because it's been rainy everyday!

We were planning on exploring Surfer's Paradise and beaches along the Gold Coast, but change in plans!This morning we picked up Jan's mother (Else) from the nursing home (like they do every Sunday) and headed to a local surf club for brunch.

The weather was miserable, but that didn't stop the diehard surfers as they braved the horrible weather all in the name of some sweet swell!

After brunch, we picked up Glen's mom (Cathleen) from the airport who also just happened to be coming in for a visit!Talk about timing.

The group of us then ventured into the town of Surfer's Paradise where we wandered the streets until we were so drenched and windblown that we opted to head back to a café where the grandma's, Dad and Glen were for a hot drink. The rest of the evening was spent socializing over some drinks with a relative of Glen's who popped in because he was doing a job nearby and was crashing at Glen and Jan's.Aussie blokes sure do know how to drink!A carton of Tooheys, some home brews of Glen's and into the whiskey!I pulled up fine the next morning but I can't say the same for Simon!My poor big brother, he tries to keep up with his little sister, but it just doesn't happen!I have the Marshall genes!
