Saturday July 31st—Penang to Kuala Lumpur
Today we unfortunately had to leave Penang and head back to Kuala Lumpur… our relaxing beach vacation was over!We checked out of the Hard Rock at 10am in order to allow enough time to visit the Snake Temple, which was only 3km away from the airport. Two bus rides later, we arrived at the Snake Temple also known as the Temple of Azure Cloud. The temple was built in 1850 and is dedicated to Chor Soo Kong, a priest who was believed to have extraordinary healing powers.According to local folklore, a religious man offered the venomous pit vipers shelter from danger and have since remained within the temple! The best bit was walking through a room and seeing a small viper just hanging out on top of a picture frame on the wall! You know… these guys can kill you but they are apparently pretty dopy from the incense burning throughout the temple!
A snake and reptile farm is located next door to the temple, so we decided to check out the 50 species of snakes! Now, if you don't already know I am terrified of snakes.Well, at least I USED to be.I've been working on overcoming such a silly fear, and I reckon I am doing pretty well.I walked through without any issues and even watched a live chicken be fed to a massive boa constrictor! This was not a highlight… although I think Jenn enjoyed it!I guess I get a bit skirmish viewing nature at work.I understand its part of the food chain, but I just don't want to have front row seats for a convulsing chicken gasping for it's last breathe. No thanks.
After our wee adventure, we hired a taxi to take us to the airport and boarded our $20 flight back to Kuala Lumpur. It was then another transfer bus-KLIA train-LRT expedition before we arrived "Back Home" (our hostel). The rest of the evening was pretty uneventful as we had an early morning flight back to Aussieland. We had one last Malaysian meal in the Chinatown markets, where I was taught how to properly use chopsticks by an old man with two lazy eyes.I just thought his eyes were wandering over my way, but its turns out he was actually watching me try to eat my noodles with chopsticks the entire time!He was such a sweetie, he came right up and took the chopsticks out of my hands and repositioned them in my hands!LOL

dad I'm sure that your mother would have liked to share the experience with you!
David Two lazy eyes... oh geez, I would have offended him so quickly. All this talk of snake's eating live chickens is making me hungry.
