Well I've made it part of the way! I'm currently stuck in LA for an 8 hour layover. (Sounds wonderful, but I'm not leaving the airport... so it's basically a whole bunch of sitting around and trying not to fall asleep because of the time change!)

Luckily I had a flight straight from Toronto to LA which makes the transfer of my luggage a bit smoother! I only had to wait in the security line for 3 hours.. no big deal. (ugh) Not to mention that my flight was to take off at 12:10pm and I showed up at my gate at ohhh 12:20 or so. Not to worry.. I wasn't the only one. The flight into LA had to be delayed for about an extra half hour because security in TO was so intense/delayed. I definitely was tested for explosives/trace elements (as usual.. really what do people think I am?!). I was also given the wrong gate number on my ticket, luckily I like to talk to people and started talking to someone who happened to be on my flight but had a different gate ticket! So we asked security and Yup.. I had the wrong gate! Thank god for being talkative!

It may sound like a rough start, but it actually wasn't that bad. I guess I'm a seasoned enough traveller to handle the curve balls airports decide to throw at me. Anyways, I have a few more hours left before I take on the 14 hour flight and can fill you in on that wonderful trip.

Happy early Australia Day (Jan 26th)--- I'll be celebrating it at a hostel in Melbourne.. jet lagged! *NOTE the hostel was sure to inform me of my free drink ticket that I will be receiving upon arrival! Oh Aussies! I love you.
