Today Zio Pino picked us up from the hotel and we went back to the house. We all jumped into two cars and went for a drive to Carpentento, a small country town with great old farm houses and an old church complete with bell tower. We met an old friend of dad's, her name was Elide and she was lovely. We had coffee and then went to a local trattoria for lunch, which lasted stir about three hours. I had gnocchi with ragu and then a mixed barbecue grill. it was very nice. After lunch we went back to Elide's house for coffee before we headed off to Palmanova. This is a roman fortess town that has a wall surrounding it. Paolo, dad and I had a look around, through the duomo and then settled into the main square for a beer. It was about 31 degrees and it was very warm, however we had a lovely spot in the shade and the beers were great. After this we left Palmanova and headed back to Monfalcone. Dad and zip dropped me off at the hotel where I attended to some work before walking back to zia's house for a light dinner.
It was great today because the oldies enjoyed swapping stories from the old days, and I think we made Elidie's day, because she didn't know dad or Psolo or I were coming to visit. She rang after dinner to again thank us for coming. Leaves s nice feeling, knowing that you made someone's day.
