Las Vegas is amazing!!! This place is so cool - very very busy, never stops! I had to wait for a couple of hours at the airport for my shuttle bus to the hotel but was okay seeing as there was so much to see at the airport itself!! Once I got my bags just had to sit though because trolleys were US$3 to hire each so wasn't going to do that! I am staying at South Point Hotel, Casino & Spa and this place is amazing!! The gym in this place is so cool!!! All the treadmills each have their own individual music channels and tvs!!! Taking full advantage of this while I'm here!! (They also have fruit for free after your exercise session so I'm stocking up for lunch!!!)Everything in Vegas is big, big, big! Each hotel on the strip has a different theme and is constructed in that way outside. For instance 'New York, New York' is in the shape of the Empire State Building and Chrysler Building and has the Statue of Liberty out the Front. Paris has a mini Eiffel Tower on the hotel (it is constructed exactly the same as the one in Paris). Apparently the absolutely best place to stay on the strip is the MGM Grand which goes for between US$500-750 a night!!My hotel is off the strip but there is a shuttle to Mandalay Bay every 30minutes and then there is a tram to Excalibur and then all the attractions are walkable from there. The strip is long but there is so much to see that you don't really notice. Bellagio (where Ocean's 11 was filmed) has an amazing fountain that plays to music every 45minutes after 6pm. There is a bar in Harrah's called 'Toby Keith's'…country bumpkins…explanation needed…I think not!! The Venetian is amazing. The Grand Canal Shoppes have a canal flowing through them with Gondola rides (for a hefty price!) I bought a strawberry daiquiri here with banana rum - very yum! Made me miss Caitlin though - strawberry daiquiris are kind of our thing. Treasure Island put on a show in the evening, which was cool. (It's the same one as in 'Miss Congeniality'.) I saw my first famous person to!! Saw Jay Leno from the 'Jay Leno Show' outside New York, New York!! It is so funny…they have escalators EVERYWHERE in this place and I think they shut them down during the afternoons to conserve energy (and rightly so because there are enough lights in this place!) Well, American people do not like this…mutter, mutter, mutter…one flight of stairs - oh my gosh, I just MIGHT have to do some exercise!! I am so happy I brought fruit with me because you cannot find anything in this place that does not involve grease, oil and fat (unless you want to spend big bucks!) There isn't a grocery store in sight and everyone is big into buffet/'all you can eat' type dining, which I avoided like the plague. They also have 'graveyard specials' from around 2am - who would even think of eating after this hour??? It is intensely hot (40degrees and above) and the winds come off the desert so feel like a hairdryer. It gets really dusty to so a bottle of water in hand is needed constantly otherwise be prepared for a sore throat of note! (As I discovered on the first day!) Tried my hand at gambling. I thought 'can't come to Vegas and not try' so put $20 into the slots…mmm…maybe shouldn't have even tried…let's just say that my money disappeared VERY quickly!! This is probably due to the fact that I had NO idea what I was doing and was just pushing random buttons…was fun for the 20seconds that it lasted though!! My first night there I went to see Celine Dion. It has been my lifelong dream and I can't believe that I actually did it. She was absolutely amazing - I was in absolute awe. Any respect and admiration I had for her before is now multiplied by millions. She walked on stage in this beautiful black, sparkly dress singing 'A New Day' and I was in tears - I just couldn't believe I was there seeing her. I was about 7 rows back from the stage and I could see her so clearly. It was absolutely amazing. I wish I had bought tickets for Friday night to so I could have seen her twice!! There was so much else going on on the stage but I literally couldn't take my eyes off her - I didn't want to miss a second!
