Hey All,
I hope that some of the pictures we have put up will keep you happy for a while. We are working on the rest but it is taking a stupidly long amount of time to upload them. But soon we promise there will be the Taj!!
Any way back to what we have been doing the last week or so... We got the train from Singapore into Malaysia and then a boat to the Perthian islands (sp?)! We spent 3 nights in a hut on the beach which we occasionally shared with a frog who could climb walls. We mostly sat on the beach and enjoyed the overcast weather a nice break from the intense heat in Singapore. The last day was sunny though and we made the most of it, we ate BBQ for dinner and I am happy to announce that Louise ate fish! I am sure you will all be as proud as I am. The fish was delicious and I'm sure Lou will say the same about the Chicken. We also tasted the local rum, aptly named 'monkey juice' as it can make you swing from the trees if you drink to much.
Once away from the beach we decided to head to another with a short stop at a place called Hat Yai on the way. We crossed the border into Thailand on foot and caught the train north to Hat Yai where we experience the most amazing Thai rock and roll band who claimed they could play 'any song in the world' me and Lou are still sceptical about that but it was good entertainment none the less.
So from Hat Yai it was a short 4-5 hour minibus journey to Krabi and a 2 hour boat to our current location of Ko Phi Phi, (the location from where our fav Leo starred in 'The Beach') it is beautiful and practically buzzing compared to the lazy island in Malaysia. Lots of shops and a Thai massage on every corner! The weather has been great with only one short shower considering it is meant to be monsoon I think we're doing well.
We have tasted the local cocktails and can confirm they are lethal! There are fire shows every night at nearly every bar and I think we've found the best! This morning we went diving or I should say Lou went diving, I snorkelled. I was told yesterday that because of my asthma its too dangerous to dive without being cleared by a doctor so gutted but enjoyed the fish anyway and the giant turtle!!
We will be leaving here tomorrow for a 14 hour coach journey to Bangkok and will actually be relieved to have the sand out of our pants and be near some temples again!
Hope everything is well back home. All our love from the island Lauren and Louise xxx
