What about ye,
Thought it was about time to update this thing again as we have had a bit of a change of plan since the last time you heard from us. Basically, finding work in Australia wasn't as easy as we originally thought (opps)! So we have decided to cut our Australian part of the trip a bit short and head to Asia, which we are doing tomorrow and are tres excited about.
Anyway, to finish off with Australia.....after the last time we spoke we were in Melbourne and about to go to the Australian open which was pretty cool. Some of the players were a bit suspect though and had I not been suffering from tennis elbow at the time, I would of given them a good game. The day after that we started looking for work again which proved to be quite difficult. Lauren eventually managed to get a job working in a restaurant which was pretty good although the hours weren't great and I had a job working in furniture removals which wasn't very reliable. I applied for well over 30 jobs but didnt hear now't, probably best off anyways, for some reason we were really beginning to take a dislike to Aussie's so it could of kicked off.
Aside from that, we still had some fun living in Melbourne for a while. We both had a couple of friends from home there which was good - nice to see a few friendly faces! Melbourne is such a great place for the 20 something yuppie type, loads of bars, cafes, art and music, theres always something to do every day of the week. It was also an easy place to travel around as there were free trams to almost everywhere, Yarra Trams are a kind bunch. The highlight for Lauren was probably going to Neighbour's night and meeting Karl Kennedy (should she really be admitting to this!). Lauren, Donna and Anneka had a very drunken/fun night meeting the cast. For me it was more just getting a feel for the city, a few pints here and there, some beach time and generally just smelling the roses so to speak. I was gutted to leave to, as mentioned there was so much to do especially with big music festivals coming up, an international food and wine festival, the Grand Prix etc , but we'll be back sometime maybe??
Next stop was Mildura for a last ditch effort at fruit picking. But the odds were stacked against us and after a week of hearing nothing and catching up on Neighbours episdoes, we decided it was time to cut our losses and make our way home, via Asia of course, not too shabby. (Cheers parents)
We are now in Sydney anyway ready for our flight to Thailand tomorrow. Had a day of sorting stuff out and saying our goodbyes to the harbor bridge and opera house!
Looking forward to seeing you all on the 12th April when we return.
Love,
Adam and Lauren
