Laocoon
Laocoon, the most famous Greek statue in Ancient Rome was lost for a thousand year, but rediscovered in 1506 in the ruins of Nero's house. A young Michelangelo was one of the awestruck populace who saw it paraded through the streets and it obviously was a great influence on how he developed as a sculptor.
