MY LEAVING DO!
Hello all
This is my first blog entry and im writing it the day before I set off on the adventure of my life. Tomorrow I leave for India!
But before I can write about my travels I must tell you all about last night which was my leaving do. It has to be said that for a bunch of misfits living in a little city called york we certainly have a good time together!I think last night was one of the funniest nights out I have had in a long time - with some of my best friends coming together to drink tequila, dance like cowboys and strip for no other reason than they felt like it?!
The night began with me and lucy getting ready at her beautiful cottage, alex made us dinner and for desert lucy devoured the best part of a box of green and blacks chocolates. We curled our hair, put our lip stick and heals on and told of memories of the countless nights out we have had together. For a girl I met in probation (we both worked there!) lucy has turned out to be a friend for life and one Im going to miss soooo much whilst im away!
Then it was time to go party!
In 1331 Anna and Kim were waiting for us with smiles on there face and doubles in their glasses. Shortly after a parade of familiar faces arrived including dane bowers, the charity commision and an austrian man named helmet - whos second name dave had persuaded me was "licker" yet again show casing how gullable a person can be.
The night was an astounding success with everyone laughing and having a brilliant time.
However the evening was not without drama - as daves jeckyl side appeard and mischief occured. Firstly he decided to play barman and wonder innocently behind the bar, then he took two coctail shakers and shoved them up his top to make him look like a slightly stubbly madonna. And then of course he realised that the room was not big enough for him to stand in with everyone else and so he found space on top of the bar! Thus topping of the dave jekyl experience and having us escorted from the premises by a very short bouncer - who kindly smiled for a photo of him walking dave out.
We then moved onto voodoo where the shapes being cut where top class! .. no really guys you azlan lot can move!!
The most enthusiastic dancer award went to helmet who after 5 jaeger bombs found his groove and proceeded to hyptonise whole crouds of women with his fluid arm movements more akin to woodstock rather than a thursday night in york :)
The night ended with a teary goodbye between me and dave - followed by me and lucy going home and eating all of the icing off of 3 slices of cake!
Oh how I will miss our midnight sugar runs!!
Today is my last full day at home - or even in my home country and its been a hung over but lovely day with everyone wishes me luck and sending me "good vibes".
I spent the evening with my family - my sister and tim came over for a good old home cooked meal consisting of mums famous chicken pie with christmas pudding for desert (only my mum would believe this to me a normal combination for a meal in october! haha) we toasted with champaign and played with sparklers in the garden. Thus accumulating my birthday (bon fire night) christmas and my leaving into a really nice couple of hours.
So tomorrow I leave for India! Its sooo weird to say that, I mean I booked this trip 12 months ago and what felt like a lifetime to wait at the start now seems to have flown by!
Im excited to get going but its not without a little bit of nerves - I dont have a clue what to expect apart from the ultimate culture shock!
The idea of leaving everything I know, a good job, amazing friends and my dear family who for the past 7 days have been living in the same city for the first time in about 8 years is so confusing and nerve wracking - its difficult to explain .. on one hand you want to get out there and experience it and on the other hand you want to stay in the place you know is safe and consistent. But without risk I wouldnt experience adventure so im going to say good bye to the life I have now and say hello with a big smile and a skip in my step to the life I have waiting for me.
Bon voyage uk ... Namaste India!!!!!!!
I love you all and im going to miss you but all I can say is ... bring it on!
xxxxx
