So Surfers Paradise.. Raining.. i.e. so bad that we couldnt even leave the dorm so I can't really tell you if the place lives up to its name.. However.. we manage to fit in a few bar crawls (standard), and the place certainly is a Surfers Paradise as long as the Surfers like drinking huge volumes of alcohols. We went to Ladies night at one club.. this meant free entry and free drinks all night.. not sure how they make any money!!! Our dorm was absolutely gross.. we shared with 20 people.. it smelt like burnt hair!!! There were lots of strange people and when we got in a boy approached Tara and he had written on his phone.. ""can i kiss you??" Obviously, we nearly wet ourselves and probably woke everyone up. Also, someone stole Millards beloved grey jogging bottoms.. damn them.. dont worry girls.. i will hold a memorial service upon my return.. i know how much you loved those joggers!!! At least they didnt take the pink scrunchy!!
After a blurry few days in Surfer.. we made our way to Fraser Island.. we were on the most retarded bus created.. it was like 100 degrees and designed for people with very short legs. The driver stopped for a 10 minute break and then the bus wouldnt start again so we all had to push start it!!! Anyway, finally made it to Harvey Bay where we were told that we had missed our induction talk and therefore could not do the Fraser Island trip the following day. After some begging.. praying.. histerical crying.. we were finally allowed to do the trip but had to go through another hostel. It was well worth the pleading, the trip was totally amazing. We had a massive 4-wheel drive wagon thing and were in groups of 8. Unfortunately only a couple of us could drive in our group and so yes..prepare yourself.. Millard had to get behind the wheel. After successfully driving the vehicle to the shopping centre.. and parking.. Lau thought that perhaps miraculously her driving had reached an standard level. However.. once on Fraser Island.. there are no proper roads... lots of driving down dirt tracks and along the beach.. She managed not to role it the whole 4 hours she was driving.. admittedly had a near miss with another vehicle which is amazing in itself since there were probably only another 10 vehicles on the whole island. So we spent 2 nights camping and visited amazing beaches and lakes during the day.. a true paradise.. we cooked on little gas fires and consumed lots of vodka.. not a very safe combination and infact Millard is lucky to still have her eyebrows!!!
So three days later we returned back to the mainland.. had one last very drunk night with our group before flying back to Sydney for one of the boys birthdays (with terrible hangovers). On the Sunday, we went with the boys to watch the big rugby match- Manly versus the Tigers. At the game we bumped into some guys that we had met in Laos.. small world. That night we went to the Manly Wharf bar.. which was rammed and we had an amazing yet again messy night. The following morning, we were upearly again to fly back to Fraser.. again with terrible hangovers. It was raining in Fraser and we had to hang around all day in the bus terminal for a night bus to airly beach. Well we have finally arrived and tomorrow we set off for the WhitSundays.
Peace out. xx
