Sunday 26th January 2014.
Today is Australia Day! It's very exciting as it's the day Australians have to celebrate their fantastic country, it's also a bank holiday in Australia which means everybody is ready to party as they all have Monday off of work. This is defiantly something I think England should adopt. As I am now in Sydney, with some friends we have tickets to Bondi beach festival, so I can't wait to spend the day celebrating Australia Bondi style.
This week my journey through Australia has been furthered as i am now In Sydney! Sydney is an amazing place, it seems to have everything, although it is not the capital. It seems the story is both Melbourne and Sydney were fighting to both become the capital of Australia, so to save the fighting the government decided to place the capital in land, between the both and call it Canberra.
As I landed from the short 1 hour flight from Melbourne out of the window, I could see the famous harbour bridge as well as the Sydney opera house, it was a funny feeling to see, what feels like such a familiar sight for the first time. The weather here has not been as hot as I had expected reaching around 24 most days seems cold in comparison to the heat wave I experienced in Melbourne. Having been in Sydney for 5 days, I have so far visited the famous Bondi beach. Bondi is a awesome place full of people parading up and down the beach showing off their best swimwear, or those with surfboards showing off their skill of riding the waves. I have also been over to Manly which is a beautiful 20 minute ferry ride from Sydney. Manly is also great, it has a holiday feel to it, plenty of restaurants, hoops and bars but also a more family friendly atmosphere in comparison to Bondi. While being in this beautiful city, I have also been to visit the famous sites, such as the skyline, bridge, opera house and did a tour of the rocks.
I have decided to extend my stay in Sydney as there is so much to see and do, I can't wait to go to the blue mountains which I may do Monday or Tuesday. With some friends we are also going to hire a car to drive up to the north beaches, where home and away is filmed :). Sydney is amazing and I think you should all come and visit it honestly seems to have something for everybody!
It's also great to hear from you all! Glad to hear from Granny H is recovering well and also great to hear Chelsea beat Man U!!
