Today Mam and Dad were setting off at 6am for the airport to catch their flight to Sydney airport, to catch their flight to Sydney. We'd arranged for T and Laura to pick us up on their way to our swanky apartment for 4 nights in the centre of Melbourne!
We'd got up early to say goodbye to Mam and Dad, then went back to sleep for a few hours before packing up and checking out at 10am. We had to wait around a while in reception before T and Laura arrived to collect us, then we stopped for food in Mansfield, before starting the long drive into the city.
We eventually arrived at the apartments and followed the 'Amazing Race'-esque instructions to collect the keys from the post box in reception, and then managed to work out how to get into the car park, and park in the correct spot! We had a bit of trouble getting up to the apartment in the lift though…we were all laden down with bags and didn't realise we had to swipe a security pass before it would let us get to our floor - luckily we were rescued by a nice couple who showed us what to do!
The apartment was lovely, and only cost us $5 more a night than the hostel we'd planned to stay in. There were 2 huge bedrooms, a kitchen, bathroom, living room/dining area, plus a balcony! From the balcony, we could see down into the pool and Jacuzzi, which we also had use of! There was lots of food in the kitchen that people had left behind (it gets rented out a lot), and it didn't take us long to discover the huge alcohol collection…hmm, are we allowed to drink that??
The other Laura was tired from driving, and I had a headache, so we sent the boys out to get food and booze from the bottle shop next door. Later on, T's cousin Marie came round and we all had a good drink together. At about 2am, T and Dave wisely decided they wanted to go out, so after a quick change they were gone and spent a few hours in a nearby bar. Laura and I stayed up for a while and made the beds before heading to bed, just as the boys got back.
And this wasn't supposed to be our heavy night…
