After a week of working hard, drinking wine and saving money, it was time to leave Port Noarlunga and go and pick up our van that will take us to Melbourne.
We were up early at 6:30 so that we could get a lift to the station with Chris; we all caught the train into Adelaide together and then she left us at Adelaide station…we were on our own again!
We got the bus to where we had to collect the van and told the guy there that we could skip the DVD about the van because we'd just had the same one for 3 months in NZ!
We were on the road again and we needed to get to Melbourne in 2 days to drop the van off - $5 per day + $25 booking fee plus $110 refund on fuel at the end was a pretty good deal! It took us a while to find our way out of Adelaide, then we stopped at McDonalds at Murray Bridge for a coffee and a muffin. Then we drove down the Prices Highway coast road towards Salt Creek where we stopped for lunch. Salt Creek was so small we missed the only café/shop/backpackers/petrol station and had to turn back on ourselves to get there!
After a quick sandwich, we drove on, turning inland at Kingston, South East towards Naracoorte, our first night stop. We had planned on going to the Naracoorte Caves today (South Australia's only Work Heritage Site), but by the time we arrived, it was almost closing time, so we'll go first thing in the morning instead.
We parked our van at the campground near the caves and settled in for the night surrounded by a group of noisy school kids - great!
