We really enjoyed Hawaii so we wondered if Fiji would live up to it-believe us it did ten times over!!
We had an early flight from Hawaii and even though the flight was only about 7 hours and we left on the morning of the 18th, we arrived there on the 19th so we lost a day-so weird! We were meant to have a direct flight to Fiji but we were stopped for an hour in Apia in Samoa so we can say we’ve been there too now!! The airport there was like a little social club with a bar in the corner and a fuzzy TV with the rugby on!!
We finally arrived in Fiji the day after and got picked up from the airport and taken back to the hostel. So we dumped our bags and set off in search of the beach-nothing special! Had a little walk around and found out where everything is, had some tea and a few cocktails!
The next day we booked to go out to Bounty Island (where they filmed Celebrity Love Island!) and we were leaving Monday morning-we were so excited!! We left right outside the hostel on Monday morning and the boat had to drop some other people off at other islands first and then they took us to our island-it was the best we seen by far! It was basically a desert island and the staff we singing and clapping as the boat drove up! The Fijian people are honestly the nicest I have ever met-they honestly couldn’t do enough for you, they knew everyone’s names after the first night! We spent the first day exploring the island; it only took 30 minutes to walk around! It was absolutely gorgeous-the pictures do not do it any justice! All our meals were included in our package so we made the most of getting 3 meals a day-plus afternoon tea!
Our room was called a beach bure and was a little hut on the beach (with a bathroom and air-con) and you stepped out onto the beach. We even had our own hammock! The following morning we got up at 8am had breakfast and then got some snorkel gear and headed off into the sea. You only had to walk about 5 feet into the water before you seen fish-they were so colourful! The coral reefs had so many fish in them-we even saw a clown fish with 2 baby ones hiding in the sea grass! We got talking to this family from New Zealand as well, they were lovely, they even invited us to stay with them when we get to New Zealand. We went to feed the fish from one of the boats, there were zebra fish everywhere! We also had a cooking lesson and were taught how to make a traditional Fijian fish dish, it was absolutely gorgeous! Me and Brian also had a spa treatment-a facial and a back massage for 15 quid!! Very relaxing! It rained in the night but the staff put on entertainment and games so we weren’t bored!
We went on a trip to Treasure Island to see a turtle nursery-a little disappointing but at least we got to see some turtles! Most of our days were spent either by the pool or on the beach and it was brilliant not having to walk around! Gave my leg a bit of a rest but it’s still not the same! We tried scuba diving in the pool as well and it was weird! Might have a go in the ocean one day soon! We really didn’t want to leave Fiji, especially Bounty Island, we loved it-I’d say our favourite place so far! We got picked up by the same boat that dropped us off and off we went back to the main land. We spent the evening in the same hostel as before and got ready to go to New Zealand! We were getting picked up at 7.15am the following morning-looking forward to going should be exciting!
Sorry by the way if this blog seems boring-we literally spent the week relaxing and sunbathing! Oh its such a hard life!
We’ll update in a couple of weeks with our tales of New Zealand!
