Laura & Lucy Around The World!
Hi everyone, sorry about the time delay from the last entry but we have had a busy last week! U know how it is!!! Anyways our plan last week was to leave Koh Tao on the Saturday when Manny and Dave went home and then head off to Krabi (west coast of Thailand). However, woke up Saturday and the 3 of us had caught some kind of tummy bug and we proceeded to spend the next 3 days on the toilet and sweating it out in our room! it wasnt a pretty sight we can tell you! we finally recovered and then headed off to Krabi on the Monday evening. We had to get a night boat which took 8 hours. The most random thing ever. Loads of mattresses laid together for you to sleep on - we were packed in like sardines!!! (photos will prove it!) then a tuk tuk from the harbour, then a 2 hour minibus ride which was squashed and stinky, then a taxi, then a taxi boat and we finally arrived!!!! phew! so now in Krabi which we can honestly say has the most beautiful views we have ever seen. However, our accommodation was pretty s*** - smelled like damp and we had no electricity, water from 6am to 6pm every day. Managed two nights there and then we moved on. Did manage to fit in an elephant trek which was AWESOME!!! got to ride around on our own elephant for an hour (we looked like african queens!!!) and then we got to feed them, feed the baby one, watch them have a bath and then swim in a freshwater stream!!! worth the 10 quid that it cost!!! After Krabi we headed over to Ko Phi Phi which is a little island about 2 hours on the boat from Krabi. When the Tsunami hit Thailand, Ko Phi Phi was completely wiped out. The construction that has taken place here since then is phenomenal! Both men and women work around the clock but most of it is rebuilt like nothing had ever happened. we have spoken to people that lost everything - their houses, business, family - it really is an eye opener thats for sure and very humbling! The place is fantastic. It has the most amazing vibe and it is like a big family - we have become part of the furniture and dont want to leave - ever!!! Met some fantastic people and a couple of weirdos - im sure we attract them! Did a snorkelling trip and met 2 girls from Lancaster Uni (ellie and claire) and we have been spending all our time with them - they are lovely. stu has found some male company which is good coz i think he was getting bogged down with the girlie chat! its a nice mix of people! when we were snorkelling we saw a Nemo!!! highlight of the holiday! also went to Maya Beach which is "The Beach" from the film with Leo baby!!! beautiful!!! took a taxi boat a couple of days ago to monkey bay where u can feed the monkeys off the boat, it was fun until one tried to get in!!!! been doing lots of drinking and staying up far too late!!! Stu leaves tomorrow for Bangkok, Cambodia, Lao and Vietnam :( it will be weird to see him go coz he's looked after us these last few weeks so we are gonna move to a bungalow near the girls which has a pool for a few days and we will be leaving for phuket on thursday. they have hair straightners - bring it on!!! weather has been quite dull yesterday and today but it is still bloody roasting!!! will update again soon and we will try and get all the new pics on in the next few days!!! hope all is good with u all. miss and love u lots. Us xxx
