Hi all! Well we have been travelling up the east coast the past four weeks after spending a few days in Sydney. We were in Sydney for Australia Day on the 26th January. The Australia Day festivities weren't as good as we expected but the fireworks that evening where probably the best we have ever seen. We left Sydney on the 2nd February to begin our road trip to Cairns.
The first stop of the trip was the Blue Mountains where we camped for a few nights. Then we headed for Palm beach to see where Home and Away is filmed. We then set of for Byron Bay for another camping trip. We did some surfing there which was awesome (apart from getting stung by a jellyfish). We then headed to Surfers Paradise where we rented an apartment for five days. While we where there we went to a show called the Outback Spectacular, we also went to the Wet 'n' Wild water park. Then it was on up to Brisbane where we went to the Australia Zoo, home of the crocodile hunter the late Steve Irwin. Noosa was next on the list for a night where we went on a cruise around the everglades.
Then it was off to Hervey Bay where we hired a 4wd and went across to Fraser Island where we spent the night camping. Our next stop after Hervey Bay was Bundaderg for the night where we visited the Bundaderg rum factory for some rum tasting. While we were there we also went to Mon Repos and saw 113 turtles hatch and make their way into the big dark ocean to start life. The next stop was Airlie Beach to do some sailing around the Whitsundays for a couple of days. Then it was on to Mission Beach for a night, our final stop before Cairns. We have been in Cairns for a couple of days now and we took a trip out onto the Great Barrier Reef today to do some diving. Tomorrow we are heading up to Port Douglas and to Cape Tribulation for a day or two and then back down to Cairns again.
Then we are heading south again to work on a farm for about six weeks picking cotton to earn some money to carry on with our travels.
