Hi everybody! Sorry we haven't updated this in a while, we have been working hard cotton picking in Queensland for the past 7 weeks! We are now back in Sydney again and staying with friends in Bondi Junction for a few days.
The cotton picking was pretty hard work as we were working 15 hour days 7 days a week, but it was all worth it in the end as we have hopefully made enough money to last the rest of our travels. The first farm we worked on was in Thallon, where there was a post office and a fuel pump and I think that was about it. We lived on the farm while were there so we didn't leave the farm for two weeks. The next farm we worked on was in Dirranbandi where we stayed in a motel, at least it was a little bit bigger with a shop and a pub. We were there for 4 weeks but it rained in the middle of that and you can't pick cotton when it is wet so we were stuck in Dirranbandi for 5 days while all the Ozzie workers went home. It was nice to have a break, but after the first day we ran out of things to do! The farm we were working on there was massive, apparently the biggest cotton farm in the southern hemisphere. Our final stop was about 100km away in St. George where we worked for about a week. Even with the long hours we still enjoyed working for a while although we are glad to be finished and be back in civilisation.
We are heading to Melbourne on Thursday morning for 2 weeks before heading to New Zealand. We were going to get the bus but it was only $10 extra to fly so we went for the easy option of getting the plane. We also booked our flights to New Zealand, Hawaii and America today. We've just got the flight home to book now!
