It's been awhile since we have been able to sit down and write. We have spent a lot of time learning about the RV and now we feel we can really enjoy RV life. It has been a big learning curve!
We spent a few weeks ago in the Grand Canyon. That was an amazing hike down to the famous Phantom Ranch at the Colorado River as always. We enjoyed having the time with our sister in law. It was a real treat to have her join us. It is always special to hike down and up the Canyon!
We met some amazing people at our RV park and many were full time RV-ers. One couple actually writes a blog to help full timers in their travels. We were so fortunate to have them right behind us and meeting them was a gift. They were a wealth of information and a joy to meet. The man is 48 years old and decided to lead this life full time since he had a stroke a few years back. He had a big wake up call and realized he needed to change his life style. Since that decision he has never looked back. We were so grateful to meet him and his wife.
One day at the campground, Gary and I both went for separate runs. When we came back the door was locked we brought the wrong key with us. We were looking all around the RV to see how we could break into our house on wheels. Other neighbors across the way came over and asked if we needed help. They were soooo nice!!! Well, the one man was a Canadian retired fireman and walked around and said he would be able to open the emergency window. All he needed was a ladder and within minutes he took the screen mesh out of the window that he took off! I was able to climb in and open the front door. That taught us a lesson...have a hide a key:) We proceeded to talk to the sister and she said she saw a bobcat on the rim of the Grand Canyon where we were just jogging and showed us the picture. That was amazing!!! She also said there was a guy getting too close to it and the bobcat growled at him. I don't think I would have been that risky!:)
Since the Grand Canyon we travelled down to Sedona, Arizona which was just a few hours away. This place was amazing!!!! Sedona is world reknowned for its Vortexes. I bought a book on Vortexes (not a surprise) which explains what they are, directions to get to them, and more. It explained that when people are in great health and vitality they have alot of energy. This also pertains to land as well. The land here that is vital and full of health is called a Vortex. When people spend time in the Vortexes, they feel more alive and uplifted in their spirits and more connected to themselves. We found this to be true. Now this might be what you call an influenced suggestion of thinking but we found that we felt amazing in these places. Daily we hiked, Yoga, and meditation. Its been very peaceful to be here. We are very grateful for this time and do not take it for granted.
We left Sedona and stayed in a beautiful campground in Cottonwood's state park. While we were driving, Gary and I closed our windows. Well, my thumb got caught under the window and I was not able to lift the window while stuck in this very painful position. Gary had to pull over to unleash my thumb. It was almost crushed under the window. I pulled out an ice pack and Arnica. For those of you who don't know what Arnica is, it is a creme that is amazing for trauma, bruises, and any kind of muscular pain or swelling. Between the ice, Arnica, my thumb was healed. It should have been black, blue, and swollen since it was slammed under the window for a minute. It was not at all. So many times on this trip, I have bumped or dropped items on my toes. Instantly ice and arnica worked like magic. I dropped a heavy water bottle on my toes and healed instantly after using both. I like to share this because I am still amazed how effectively the two work together to heal bruising and swelling. Arnica can be found in any health food store.
The ironies of ironies. We sold our home in 6 days. But the day the realtor and new buyers walked into our home...the main plumbing line backed up and a stream of water was pouring down from the second floor. They were there to witness this lovely event. So grateful for Bill, Connie, Carol, and our long time general contractor, Noel for all pitching in to control and stop the flood. We are so grateful for all their help!!!!!
We are now heading southeast to San Antonio, Texas for Thanksgiving. The drive overlooks miles and miles of desert land. Gary is listening to Rock music and I have earphones on listening to music I love. It's a great way to travel with someone. Today is our anniversary and we will be celebrating 22 short beautiful years together with a run on the Riverwalk and dinner.
Thank you all for being our friends and family! We love you and appreciative!!!! Please stay in touch anytime.
