With the help of Dingo, me and Alice spent the morning filling out our review questions of the first 4 sections of the scuba theory, and then watched section 5.
After lunch it was time to do our first proper diving session! We got a boat to Koh Nangyuan, which allowed us to see Koh Tao from the sea- an even more stunning view than it is on the island. The first dive spot was called Japanese gardens, and we descended 12 metres for 39 minutes. It's a lot easier to control buoyancy in the sea than in the swimming pool, and seeing all the fish and coral made yesterday's struggle getting to grips with it all worth it.
After coming back out, we had 30 minutes or so break, munching on pineapple and biscuits. Looking out over the island and sitting on the top deck made us feel like we were on a luxury yacht or something!
In the next dive, we did a bit of skills testing, so first we had to do a half mask clear and a full mask clear. During the full mask clear I panicked, completely forgetting what to do, and that I should inhale so that I could breathe out my nose. Once I'd done it, the rest of the dive was really good- it was in a spot called 'Twins' and there was hoops to swim through, and underwater statues of sharks and dinosaurs- kind of like an underwater playground!
Once back on shore, we filled out the review questions for section 5, and were going to take the theory exam, but I started to feel a bit queasy. Dingo said we could come back at 8 and take it then, but on the way back to the hostel, I was sick. I thought it was because I'd eaten so much pineapple and biscuits (when will I ever learn), but I was up all night, and I'd assume if it was just me overeating, I'd be OK once I'd cleared my stomach. Alice still took hers though and passed.
