On our way down to Surfers Paradise we had a bus with issues - just our luck! It was having problems with t he gear box so we had to change over buses. The rest of the journey was uneventful and we arrived at The Islander in the sun. It turns out the Islander is a hotel - brilliant!! It was right on Beach Road, so just minutes from the beach. We wandered around getting our bearings before heading to the night markets which are right on the beach. We were very good though and didn't buy anything. We then had dinner ate the Surf Club - very exciting! We met our roommate Linh who was really nice, we got on so well with her and we all decided to go on the club crawl that was advertised for Satuday night.

On saturday we headed to Movie World which is a short bus ride away, we had great fun on all the rides. Lau and Sam loved the Scooby Doo Spooky Coaster, although Fi surpisingly didn't! We also watched a Shrek 4D show and the Police Academy Stunt Showwhich was really good and very funny. There was also a parade with all of the Looney Tunes characters, Shrek and Fiona, and all the superheroes which was fun to watch.  That night we headed out on the bar crawl where we went to 3 local bars and got free drinks, it was a brilliant night with lots of dancing and we got a free flashing glass!

We spent sunday on the beach, trying to get a tan! It was pretty cool to look up from the sea and see skyscrapers right above us - very random. We tested out all the hotel facilities, such as the sauna before ending up in the spa for an hour or so, before talking most of teh night away on the roof terrace.

Monday was an amazing day, we went to Sea World. Although there weren't many rides and they weren't great it was amazing to see all the sea animals up close and personal. Lau and Sam ended by themselves on the Bermuda Triangle ride which under normal circumstances it wouldn't be scary, but actually laughable, it really wasn't!! Sam took part in the seal show, where the guy in charge thought she was only 15!!! It was all good though as she was abe tyo take part in the show and feed and pat a gorgeous seal. There was also a dolphin show which was amazing, they all played together and did some spectacular acrobatics and tricks. We also saw Polar bears, sharks, Dugong, baby dolphins, they were all gorgeous. We spent sometime in the water park where they had a really good water slide where 3 people sit in a huge tyre and get soaked as you go down the shute - very cool.  There was also a water-skiing show set in the 50s, all the people were so good and it looked really fun and we have decided we all want to tey it one day, should be interesting! We got on the Skyway just before we left, so we could see all the park from above, and we stopped over the dolphin nursery, the babies were so cute!

After a final day on the beach we watched the sunset before going out that evening we went in the spa again, where we were joined by a very drunk guy who we think was homeless. He was sitting there talking and swearing to himself and being just generally freaky, needless to say we didn't spend that long in there after that! We were also joined in our room by a really weird girl, who was so self-obsessed and generally lacking in social niceness. She wouldn't stop talking about herself and making loads of noise while we tried to sleep. She was really weird and it was a bit of a shock after sharing our room with nice people before, such as Linh. On our last night we went bowling. It was really cool because it was special glow in the dark bowling, so all the pins and balls, etc were neon colours. It was really good fun and we all kept on getting strikes!! We had a really nice italian for dinner, it was a really good end to our surfers paradise stay, next stop Brisbane!!
