My new calling...
So the meaning of Buenos Aires may well be ´good airs´ but with the choking car fumes and stifling humidity it felt to me like it was wrongly named! So I decided that the only thing to fix my limping lungs was to head down to Patagonia for some real fresh air. So I`m currently in Bariloche. I spent today horse riding in the surrounding mountains and it was nothing short of wonderful! I had previously sworn myself off any more horse riding in south america after bad experiences in Colombia and Ecuador with poor sickly boney ponies who could hardly support their own weight let alone a person that would be far too big for them even if they were healthy! But I thought as Argentina is famous for it`s ranches in Gauchos I decided that this was probably the place to give it another go. So I saddled up on the most beautiful glossy black horse and galloped off into the horizon with my Argentinian dream boat and lived happily ever after as a bechapped cowgirl! Teehee! No really I had such a lovely horse, who liked to run but wasn`t too crazy and I felt really at home. My guide told me I was a natural gaucha and I did indeed feel very comfortable in the saddle... and as I trotted along admiring the scenery and breathing in the lovely fresh air I must admitt I had a little dream of how it would be to live life this way! Then I got bitten by a monster of a horse fly and soon realised the silliness of my curly headed fantasies!
Anyway, so Bariloche is a pretty but overly touristy town on the edge of a lake surrounded by yet more snow capped peaks! I`m on the road again tomorrow. I`m a crazy girl. I`ll be spending the best part of 3 days on a bus to get all the way down to a town called El Calafate in the far south of Argentina where there giant mountains and glacier. It`s one glacier in particular that I`m off to see. It`s one of the worlds only advancing glaciers and it drops house size lumps off blue hued ice into the water before your very eys. I had decided to take it easy my last couple of weeks here but I thought b***** that... I might as well cram in as much as I can before I`m harshly reacquainted once more with reality!
So if you`d care to back track I`ve finally caught up from my last blog in La Paz! I`m being a bit slow with the updates these days! But Rurrenabaque and Tupiza (Bolivia) and Buenos Aires (Arg of course!) are now fully up to date.
Entonces, hasta la proxima vez! More soon xx
